PAYING THE TRIBUTE TO MOHAMMED

Qur’an 9:29, “Fight against such of those who have been given the Scripture as believe not in Allah nor the Last Day, and forbid not that which Allah hath forbidden by His messenger, and follow not the Religion of Truth, until they pay the tribute readily, being brought low.”

Ibn Kathir’s 14th century commentary [83] expresses the classical Muslim orthodoxy on Qur’an 9:29 — the verse which links the unique Islamic institution of jihad war, integrally, to the imposition of the pact of submission (or “dhimma”) upon the vanquished “Scriptured” (or “dhimmi”) peoples, primarily Jews and Christians:

…when the People of the Scriptures disbelieved in Muhammad, they had no beneficial faith in any Messenger or what the Messengers brought. Rather they followed their religions because this conformed with their ideas, lusts, and the ways of their forefathers, not because they are Allah’s laws and religion. Had they been true believers in their religions, that faith would have directed them to believe in Muhammad because all Prophets gave the good news of Muhammad’s advent and commanded them to obey and follow him. Yet when he was sent, they disbelieved in him, even though he is the mightiest of all Messengers. Therefore, they do not follow the religion of earlier Prophets because these religions came from Allah, but because these suit their desires and lusts. Therefore, their claimed faith in an earlier Prophet will not benefit them because they disbelieved in the master, the mightiest, the last and most perfect of all Prophets. Hence Allah’s statement “Fight against those who believe not in Allah, nor in the Last Day, nor forbid that which has been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, and those who acknowledge not the religion of truth among the People of the Scripture”

This honorable Ayah was revealed with the order to fight the People of the Book, after the pagans were defeated, the people entered Allah’s region in large numbers, and the Arabian Peninsula was secured under the Muslims’ control.

If I was a Jew and the Holocaust was right there on my landscape (understatement cannot put this into words actually) then I would want to know why. Francisco Gil White (When Hitler came to power in 1933 outrages against the German Jews began immediately… http://www.hirhome.com/israel/leaders0.htm) sidesteps the issue and goes on to talk about a Jewish Boycott but does not tell us that that was AFTER the event. By “event” I mean what precisely?  I mean the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1933. It is mostly hidden but it was possible to have Hitler stopped in 1933. His election vote was actually going down (fairly well known). There were battalions able and willing to stop this fiend and these fiends from taking the state power in that Germany in those 1930s. There was a massive trade union and labour movement in Germany huge battalions of workers organised inside the unions. Looking at it with a cool eye it seems to me certain that the masses of German organised workers knew or at the very least sensed the great danger from the Nazis – not necessarily danger to the Jews but just simply danger. But the leaders betrayed.  How they betrayed is for another story but they did. And Hitler strolled into state power. The first thing Hitler did was to pulverise all independent (not just labour) but all independent voices. The concentration camps waited even for those leaders who had helped him take state power.

There is something similar in Islam. The Mohammedan tax on the Kafir is (though not the modern phenomenon of Fascism) the same thing in essence. The payer of the tax did not only have to pay the tax he had to pay it with his belly on the ground and ready to feel the whip of his Master. The paying of this tax was also a statement that I (with my belly on the ground and my face in the dirt) can never get my hands on the state power. Muslims rule through the state, If not precisely the same thing that Hitler did in 1933 it is uncannily close. The state is the key issue in all of these issues. Hitler knew or again at least sensed all of this which is why Hitler more and more began to have a love for Islam and unease with Christianity. Islam did nor waffle. The Popes and Archbishops of Canterbury – they waffle (exception being the more intellectual Benedict see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Regensburg_lecture)Islam like the Nazis go straight for the jugular. Today much of what Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller report on is the effort (successful) to keep the Kafir from actually ruling (using state power) against the Jihad.
