Dutch far-right politician Geert Wilders has been acquitted of charges of inciting hatred against Muslims.
Mr Wilders had described Islam as “fascist”, comparing the Koran to Hitler’s Mein Kampf.
He insisted his statements were directed at Islam and not at Muslim believers – something which is legal under Dutch law.
Judge Marcel van Oosten told him his statements were “acceptable within the context of public debate”.
“The bench finds that although gross and degenerating, it did not give rise to hatred,” he said.
The verdict was greeted with applause from Mr Wilders’ supporters in the public gallery.
Outside the courtroom, the 47-year-old politician said he was “incredibly happy”…

The judges have delivered their verdict in the heresy trial of Dutch freedom politician Geert Wilders for inciting hatred against Muslims. NOT GUILTY of all charges of inciting hatred against Muslims. When do the Islamic supremacists go on trial for inciting hatred against non-Muslims?

The islamic supremacists who initiated the case told judges that Mr Wilders’ comments have led to a rise in discrimination and violence against Muslims. This is the enforcement of blasphemy laws under Islamic law.
The case began on October 4 last year, but collapsed after three weeks when a special legal panel ruled the judges may have shown partiality following a string of legal blunders. New judges were then sworn in and the case was heard again this year. (Dutch News)
The Islamic supremacist ‘plaintiffs’ were seeking a one-euro fine. But it’s not about a largely symbolic fine, it is about a triumph over the tenets of Western law and free speech They said if they didn’t get their symbolic one-euro pne,y don’t get it, they say they will consider taking their case to the European Court of Human Rights.
