“Israel’s elite Shayetet 13 (Flotilla 13) early Wednesday, March 5, boarded an Iranian Panama-registered cargo vessel KLOS C. Concealed in its hold under sacks of cement were dozens of 302mm rockets with a range of 150 kms, manufactured in Syria and destined by Iran for the Gaza Strip after being offloaded in Sudan.

The Israeli commandos seized the vessel in open sea on the maritime border of Sudan and Eritrea, 1500 south of Israel, and have set it on course for Eilat.

Sudan has been revealed by debkafile’s military sources as having been transformed in the last two years into a major Iranian weapons manufacturing and logistic depot, which supplies Syria, HIzballah and Hamas. Port Sudan is also the hub for the smuggling of Iranian arms to various Middle East locations.

The IDF said the Iranian missile cargo was destined for the Palestinian Hamas which rules the Gaza Strip. If this is so, it would mean that Iran had gone back to arming Hamas with missiles and rockets after a two-year pause during which the Palestinian extremists were cold-shouldered by Tehran for their animosity to Syria’s Bashar Assad.

By the same token, it is hard to believe the Assad would consent to relay Syrian-made missiles to this antagonist. Some Middle East military sources believe the shipment as not destined for Palestinian terrorists for use against Israel, but rather for Muslim Brotherhood activists fighting the Egyptian army from their forward base in the Gaza Strip. They don’t rule out the possibility of Al Qaeda affiliates fighting in Sinai as being the address. Western intelligence has recorded instances of Iran entering into ad hoc operational collaboration with al Qaeda elements when it suits Tehran’s book.”

“I’m ready to accept their existence in their country, why don’t they accept me?” asked Netanyahu, stressing that the refusal to recognize Israel as a Jewish state is a major roadblock to peace.

 

“The obstacle of the peace talks is this principle (of recognition), and not the issue of Israeli building in settlements that gets such wide criticism in the West,” argued Netanyahu. He further denied claims that construction is a key problem, saying it’s an issue that “will be solved in the talks’ framework.”

 

Last Friday, US Ambassador to Israel Dan Shapiro declared the PA will be required to recognize Israel as a Jewish state in any framework agreement, a day after a PLO (Palestinian Liberation Organization) official claimed Abbas was ready to recognize Israel.

 

Abbas’s PA has previously said the Arab states “will never recognize Israel,” and as noted has repeatedly refused to recognize Israel. On Sunday, Hamas lawmakers warned that recognition of Israel would be a “death sentence” for the PA.

 

Kerry’s has reportedly proposed that Israel would be forced to “earn” PA recognition as a Jewish state by obligating itself through guarantees that it will not compromise the status of Israeli Arabs.

As Moscow prepares to block strong UN Security Council condemnation of Syrian violence against protest, Russian diplomats Monday, Aug. 1, launched a quiet effort to start freezing sanctions imposed on Iran over its military nuclear program in return for Tehran satisfactorily answering of the International nuclear watchdog’s  “questions and concerns,” debkafile‘s Moscow and Washington sources report.
The Obama administration, while not involved in the Russian initiative, has indicated through contacts between US and Russian officials that if Moscow persuades Iran to go this path and another effort to break the long impasse over its nuclear program, Washington will not interfere and agrees to await results.

 

Moscow’s hands were therefore free to put its proposition to Tehran: Russia will block a strong UN Security Council resolution condemning its ally Syrian President Bashar Assad for his brutal crackdown on dissent, thereby shutting the door to approval of Libya-style outside military intervention. Tehran will reciprocate by cooperating with the Russian plan for solving the nuclear controversy along the lines proposed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in mid-May: “

 

…each time when Tehran satisfactorily answers the questions or concerns of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), it should be encouraged, including some sanctions should be frozen,” he suggested.

 

 

Until now, Tehran has rejected this Russian overture.

 
Over the weekend, however, debkafile‘s Iranian sources disclose that Iranian leaders decided after a stormy session to change course. The Spiritual Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei gave the order to inform Moscow that Iran is willing to discuss the Lavrov plan while fully reserving its objections. Moscow must also be ready to talk through Iran’s counter-proposals.

 
Accepting Tehran’s decision as the starting point for discussing the Lavrov plan, Moscow made two more public moves: An announcement in Moscow and Tehran that Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolay Patrushev would visit Tehran on Aug. 15, followed two days later by the arrival of Iran’s foreign Minister Saeed Jalili in Moscow.

 

 The latter would sit down with Lavrov to hammer out agreement on the Russian plan.

 

 

On Monday, too, Russian ambassador Vitaly Churkin commented that the draft European powers had circulated condemning Syria was “somewhat excessive” and Russia would consider a presidential statement from the council “satisfactory.”

 
Moscow was encouraged to start meeting Tehran halfway after many Western experts came to the conclusion that the UN, US and European sanctions aimed at making Iran abandon its nuclear drive were wasted effort, with not the slightest effect on slowing Tehran’s nuclear momentum.

 

 

With little chance of a UN move against Syria, State Department Deputy Spokesman Mark Toner said Monday that additional US steps might target Syria’s oil and gas industry, which is the government’s main source of revenue amid the virtual collapse of the rest of the country’s economy.

These countries, Britain, America, France, and Spain who are leading the charge have insoluble economic problems in their own economies.

 

Why should they, and what is their great interest in helping such oppositional forces to Gadhafi.

 

We on 4international have been opposed to these so called oppositional forces since the very beginning. We are unique in the world in that respect. I mean others have come round but we never had a moment of hesitation!

 

It is not that we are against democratic rights. The opposite, we are foremost in defending democratic rights. But what rights did the American journalist Lara Logan have when she was stripped naked in Cairo by these “protesters” and repeatedly raped, with the bob calling “Jew Jew” to her (Actually she is not Jewish.)

 

So where are we?

 

Actually, in all truth, 4international is the only force on earth which has a clear position. We defend Gadhafi and his forces unconditionally, in the same way that Leon Trotsky defended Haile Selassie against Nazi attack in the 1930s

 

We are independent from Gadhafi; we have different policies and different approaches to life; but our defence is unconditional; against the murdering Imperialists our defence is (that important word again) unconditional; we wish for Gadhafi to survive and for the attackers of his country to be defeated and we will do everything in our power to do just that.

This is a real testing situation for leadership

 

We on 4international know very well that the best elements out of the Jewish leadership will come forward in a principled way and defend Gadhafi against these enormous odds

 

That is already happening.
