Why are Jews at the ‘Holocaust denial’ conference?

A handful of Orthodox Jews have attended Iran’s controversial conference questioning the Nazi genocide of the Jews – not because they deny the Holocaust but because they object to using it as justification for the existence of Israel.With their distinctive hats, beards and side locks, these men may, to the untrained eye, look like any other Orthodox believers in Jerusalem or New York. But the Jews who went to Tehran are different. Some of them belong to Neturei Karta (Guardians of the City), a Hasidic sect of a few thousand people which views Zionism – the movement to establish a Jewish national home or state in what was Palestine – as a “poison” threatening “true Jews”. But how do Neturei Karta and other Orthodox Jews such as Austria-based Rabbi Moishe Ayre Friedman justify attending such a controversial conference? Rabbi Friedman told BBC Radio 4’s PM programme that he was not in Tehran to debate whether the Holocaust happened or not, but to look at its lessons. He says the Holocaust was being used to legitimise the suffering of other peoples and he wanted to break what he called a taboo on discussing it. The main thing, he argued, was not Jewish suffering in the past but the use of the Holocaust as a “tool of commercial, military and media power”. In what many other Jews would consider the height of naivety, he commended Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for wanting “a secured future for innocent Jewish people in Europe and elsewhere”. In his speech to the conference, Neturei Karta’s Rabbi Cohen said there was no doubt about the Holocaust and it would be “a terrible affront to the memory of those who perished to belittle the guilt of the crime in any way”. However, he also argued that the genocide had been divine will. “The Zionists, with their secular pompous approach behave in complete opposition to this philosophy and dare to say ‘Never Again’. “They have the audacity to think that they can prevent the Almighty from repeating a Holocaust. This is heresy.” Neturei Karta’s views are regarded with abhorrence by most other Orthodox Jews, according to Rabbi Jeremy Rosen of the Yakar centre in London. (I would say by all Jews, orthodox or not…FQ) “And I think, frankly, even among the Hasidic world, by and large Neturei Karta are regarded as freaks,” the Orthodox rabbi told the BBC News website. There are a number of things about this Naturei Karta to make clear: 1. They represent only a few thousands of Jews 2. They are allowed freedom, total, to put forward their views. 3. They are useful for us to keep in mind, because they raise the issue of Jews and the land of Judea, a real place, Jews and the need for a physical Homeland, Jews and the need for a place of respite from antisemitism 4. The Holocaust by the Nazis They echo a theme put forward by Mr Richie Allen to Jack Engelbard last night, that Israelis (Jews) should forget about their history, just deal with the present, and get on with settling the issue (Yes he said that, I have the tape) In his confused and confusing mind Mr Allen also said to Engelbard that look…the republicans and Loyalists in Northern Ireland sat down and settled. Why not you JEWS also Mr Allen implied. KIND OF SCOLDED ACTUALLY!
The most obvious answer to give to Mr Allen on this is that the Provisional IRA were never Muslim Jihadists. Also they were never driven by the religion of Islam. That is a big difference right there which Mr Allen does not allow to enter his thought processes. Mr Allen is a mechanical thinker. He is unfortunately not a dialectician. Jack Engelhard also patiently explained to Allen that the Arab Muslims want to set up a Palestine State which is Judenfrei. NO JEW WILL BE ALLOWED TO LIVE IN THIS “PALESTINE”. That is another major difference between settling the Middle East and settling the Irish issue. The origins of Republicanism in the United Irishmen, based on the ideas of the outstanding and very progressive American and French Revolutions, was for Protestant and Catholic UNITING Not for living in the equivalent of Judenfrei states. TO MR RICHARD ALLEN I SAY IT IS VERY MISLEADING TO DRAW A COMPARISION BETWEEN IRELAND AND ISRAEL. THEY ARE 2 DIFFERENT THINGS COMPLETELY. BACK TO NATUREI KARTA This group basically says forget about the Holocaust of the Jews. But the Holocaust of the Jews in the Nazi era did not create the Jewish people. The Jewish people existed 4000 years before the Holocaust. But the Holocaust is part of Jewish History. Never again means to take all possible measures which would prevent a situation arriving where Jews are powerless.
Where Jews are given the one alternative, therefore no alternative…GET ON THOSE TRAINS NOW! You can as much separate the Jews of today from the Nazi Holocaust, as you can separate the Irish of today from the executions of the 1916 rebel leaders. It is impossible. But the biggest question is WHY ASK!!! Why ask Jews to forget their past as did Mr Allen to Jack Engelhard last night (on Talk Radio Europe) and get on with it. Is that not the most horrific thing possible to say to a Jew today! How insulted poor Mr Engelhard must have felt by Allen! |
