Why TENC is Posting “Ahmadinejad’s World
by Jared Israel

I see two main problems with the extensive media coverage of Iran’s President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.  One is the media’s tendency to accept Ahmadinejad’s preferred self-image, that of a third world populist, albeit with Islamist views, regarding whom the media celebrates supposed signs of moderation.  This approach avoids examining Ahmadinejad’s ideology and its roots in the political life of post 1979 (i.e., Islamist) Iran.

Matthias Küntzel’s piece, “Ahmadinejad’s World,” goes a long way towards filling the void of ignorance about how this man thinks. It turns out that not only does Ahmadinejad deny the Holocaust, sponsor Hezbollah, and incite the murder of Jewish people around the world, but he took part in the government-organized murder of untold thousands of Iranian children, and is now promoting a state cult glorifying that murder.

The second problem is that the media – mainstream, extreme right, extreme left, alternative, pro-Israel, anti-Israel – unquestioningly propounds the view, fostered by the US and Iranian governments, that they are what they appear: fierce opponents.  Evidence contradicting this view is disregarded; for example, I could find no English language newspaper or TV news program that even noted the following remark, which Ahmadinejad made during his UN speech a week ago:

“The occupiers are incapable of establishing security in Iraq. Despite the establishment of the lawful Government and National Assembly of Iraq, there are covert and overt efforts to heighten insecurity, magnify and aggravate differences within Iraqi society, and instigate civil strife.” (My emphasis – JI)
–Transcript of Ahmadinejad’s UN speech

Two things are noteworthy here.

First, Ahmadinejad did not, in this quote or anywhere else in his speech, demand that the US get out of Iraq.  Rather, he criticized the occupation forces for being “incapable of establishing security.”

Second, Ahmadinejad referred to the current Iraqi government as “the lawful Government and National Assembly of Iraq.”  But said government is the creature of the occupation forces, first and foremost the US. For example, US Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad oversaw the writing of the Iraqi constitution.

For three years we have been told that the US is on the verge of a military assault on Iran. Yet here is the Iranian President, commenting on the presence of massive US and allied forces in Iraq, and instead of denouncing this multi-national attack force on his doorstep, instead of saying, “Of course we need nuclear weapons; thousands of US and other infidel troops are poised on our border!” – instead he chides the US for not being tough enough and commends the US-created Iraqi government as “lawful.”  Doesn’t this suggest that the US-Iranian relationship is different from what it appears? That mutual denunciations and threats made by the Bush and Ahmadinejad governments may be political theater? But this and much other evidence that, as Emperor’s Clothes predicted before the US went into Iraq, Iran has gained from the invasion and has in crucial ways supported US efforts – this evidence is simply ignored. [I]

Food for thought, about which more later. First, here is Matthias Küntzel’s account of what President Ahmadinejad has done and what he stands for. As you read, consider what it means for Ahmadinejad to say the Iraqi government is “lawful.”

Jared Israel
Editor, Emperor’s Clothes

I would like to add another point to the above by Jared Israel.

It got little media coverage but I read in a brief report that the CIA interviews with Saddam showed that Saddam was above all fearful of Iran, thus Saddam boasted every chance he got that Iraq had nuclear weapons. This was deliberate and indeed throws a new light on why the US took out the relatively speaking anti Islam regime of Saddam and promoted thus the Islamic Republic

These interviews should be made available for all to read.

But they will not be because they tell too much about US and EU programme of alliance with Islam.

The big question is why is America allied with Islam.

To understand that one must make a study of the history of America and the history of Islam.

As we noted the American Revolution and the life of Tom Paine is very relevant in today´s puzzle.

Iran is the big issue which is facing anybody who is in the slightest interested in the world around them, in reality (another name of course for politics) today

What exactly is Iran? What is the Islamic Re`public? What is therefore Islam?

A major question is why is all of the so called “Left” in support of Iran to one degree or another?

What is the role of Stalinism in the left wing movement? What is the historical role of Leon Trotsky who inside the socialist moveemnt fought against the ebtrayals of Stalinism?

What is the roots of the present hatred for Israel among those who call themselves socialists?

What is the connection between the hatred for Zionism which the Soviets in the 60s adopted and churned out in massive propaganda.

And indeed what actually is Zionism?

The latter question is of such importance we cannot allow it to hang in the air as it were. Zionism is the wish of the Jewish people to have a Homeland of their own. Not just any Homeland but in the aprt of earth that they were expelled from in the most brutal fashion by the Romans. This also means that this wish for a Homeland is interconnected with their Book, the Bible, which among other things is a history of their people.

So in that real sense every Jew who is conscious of himself as a Jew is a Zionist.

It is the oldest nationn on the earth and ebcause it is the oldest this aspect of the issue has drawn the most bitter attacks from so called “socialists” who unfortunately treat theory and history as a dogma.

1. What is Iran today?

2. Who was Hajj Amin el Husseini? What is the link between Islam and the Third Reich of Hitler (Nazism)

3. Great Britain is based on many things but one of them is racism. This is shown very clearly in their attitude to the Irish over many generations. So in the key period of 1920 following the First WEorld War Britain was racist towards the Jews in Palestine. And that form of racism is also called anti-Semitism

4. Mein Kamph was a critical document. This document led on to the Wannsee Conference held in a suburb of Berlin in January 20, 1942, at which was planned the extermination of the whole of the Jewish people. Even Ireland was listed at this conference and the 4000 Jews in Ireland in 1942 were noted down for extermination. Every Jew in Ireland at that time is thus a “Holocaust Survivor”, indeed ewvery jew on the planet must be termed as a Holocaust survivor.

5.The role of Henry Ford leading on to the Holocaust

“In 1918, Ford’s closest aide and private secretary, Ernest G. Liebold, purchased an obscure weekly newspaper, The Dearborn Independent for Ford. The Independent ran for eight years, from 1920 until 1927, during which Liebold was editor. The newspaper published “Protocols of the Learned Elders of Zion,” which was discredited by The Times of London as a forgery during the Independent’s publishing run.”

6. The role of Tom Paine

Born 29 January 1737

Died 8 July 1809

Author of two key works which had a great influence on America and which is relevant in today´s discussion

Common Sense

The Rights of Man

And from this the connection between the British Revolution under Cromwell, the American and French Revolutions

8. Who was Karl Marx and his friend Engels? How do they figure in this narrative, greatly see our notes on the left above.

In order to understand the left and its hatred for Zionism we must understand October 1917, Lenin, Stalin and Trotsky. Thus the 4international.

So it can be seen that the present situation and the answer to the first question, what is Iran today, what is Islam, what is Christianity, what is Judaism, is a very complex question

We will look at some of these in more detail as we go on.

This is the report by Jihadwatch on the crucial issue of the finding of that secret Iranian Nuclear Bomb plant

[begin report here]

Although the CIA and National Security Agency (NSA) has been tracking construction of the plant for several years, Mr Obama decided it was time to put maximum pressure on Tehran by revealing its existence.” It is likely that Obama is overestimating the impact this will have upon the mullahs. They respect strength. The threat of sanctions is not strength.

“Iran admits to secret second nuclear plant built inside mountain,” by Michael Evans and Nico Hines for the Times Online, September 25 (thanks to Alexandre):

Iran has informed the International Atomic Energy Agency that it has been building a previously undeclared nuclear facility to enrich uranium, raising fears that Tehran is closer to acquiring an atomic bomb than has been predicted up until now.

The presence of a secret second site – built inside a mountain near the holy Shia city of Qum – has been known about by American and other Western intelligence agencies for some time, although nothing has been revealed until now.

Iran’s formal letter to the IAEA in Vienna, sent on Monday, pre-empted an announcement to be made today by President Obama, Gordon Brown and President Sarkozy of France before the opening of the G20 economic summit in Pittsburgh, in which Tehran will be accused of building the secret facility about 100 miles southwest of the Iranian capital.

Although the CIA and National Security Agency (NSA) has been tracking construction of the plant for several years, Mr Obama decided it was time to put maximum pressure on Tehran by revealing its existence.

Reports from Washington indicate that Iran had learnt of the West’s uncovering of its second plant and moved to declare it formally to the IAEA.

Iran wrote a brief, cryptic letter to the IAEA saying it now had a “pilot plant” under construction, whose existence it had not revealed. Iran’s first and officially declared facility is at Natanz in southern Iran.

Marc Vidricaire, IAEA spokesman, said: “I can confirm that on September 21 Iran informed the IAEA in a letter that a new pilot fuel-enrichment plant is under construction in the country. The letter stated that the enrichment level would be up to 5 per cent.”

Uranium enriched to around 5 per cent can be used as nuclear fuel, but has to be enriched to around 90 per cent to be effective in a nuclear weapon. The United States, Britain and other Western countries believe that Iran has been attempting, at its plant at Natanz, to achieve a higher enrichment of uranium, although the plant has been subject to IAEA inspections….

I heard Obama say (on a TV appearance) that he planned to have IAEA “investigate” the Iranian nuclear plants…whoo hoo, like the Iranians are going to cooperate…”You realize that the head of the IAEA is named Mohammad? Right? I Think that Iran will cooperate with the IAEA, because the head of the IAEA is a fucking Muslem!

Its like sending a Nazi to inspect a concentration camp!

September 26, 2009

The trap which is set for Israel through its links with the US Government is seen in the following report about the Russian Stalinists from YNet

Russia said on Friday that Iran’s construction of a second uranium enrichment plant violated UN Security Council decisions and should be investigated immediately by the U.N. nuclear watchdog.

A statement by Russian President Dmitry Medvedev called on Iran to cooperate with the proposed probe and said Moscow remained committed to dialogue with Tehran on nuclear issues. The statement made no mention of sanctions. (Reuters),7340,L-3782006,00.html

Note in the above these reactionaries say they remain open to dialogue with Iran. Now this is precisely the same position that Obama takes.

Yet the discovery of the plant near QOM which the iranians were keeping hidden shows that Iran is determined to get the nuclear bomb.

So what then is there to talk about?

The more they talk surely then the more time that Iran has got to create its nuclear bomb.

It is only some weeks that America was threatening to blow out of the skies any Israeli planes that were moving against Iran.

Sop it seems to us here that the US Government of Obama and the Putin Government are going hand in hand to try to stop Israel doing anything.

This is extreme antisemitism by both Obama and the Russians.

The Iranian Government have been totally explicit that they intend to destroy the Israeli state, calling it a cancer, a dirty black virus etc.

Yet Obama and the Russian Stalinists hand in hand are trying to stop Israel defending itself.

In this situation Netanyahu must break free from these antisemites on the world stage.

Israel must now act independently against the Iranian Nazis of Ahmadinejad and must also make a direct appeal to the Israeli and Iranian peoples to join together in a unity against antisemitism.

The position of these Putin Stalinists is also tragic for the Russian peoples as well as for the Jewish because Russia faces a direct threat from Islam in its own country.

Iranian Ahmadinejad Fascists must be stopped

We now enter a period of the terminal decline of the capitalist system

We also enter a period of wars, revolutions and do not forget counter revolutions.

It is the counter revolution that Obama is leading in the world todaty, as he turns America away decisively and finally from the principles of the American Revolution, the principles of Thomas Paine, author of Common Sense and The Rights of Man.

In this situation all of the traditional leaders are found wanting and themselves are bound to enter into deep crisis and terminal decline.

We are now in a situation where either the Israeli Government, its army and air force will be able to destroy the Iranian Bomb, or Israel will perish.

Also if Israel is not successful then the whole of the Middle East, and Europe, especially all the countries in the Meditteranean, will be in danger, great danger of Nuclear Conflagration

A Jewish man who was interviewed on a Jewish street in Israel by the BBC asserted his opinion as to why the US was sticking its nose into affairs between Arabs and Jews.

This is not only a good comment but represents an historical change in the Jewish people of Israel.

For many decades Jews and Israel have looked to America as the “land of the free”.

What we have seen on Israpundit, a Jewish blog, is that the traditional leaders of the Jewish people are bankrupt and can offer only defeat.

This is a conclusion I reach after watching the various political positions of a whole selection of bloggers there who are pretty representative of the whole Jewish movement.

Let us take some of these “personalities”.

The editor Ted Belman. He swings from one position to another but essentially remains tied to the US political class, mainly republican, as shown in his recent support for Sarah Palin as a possible “saviour”, a crazy idea you might think.

Long time writer Bill Narvey. Remains tied to all US Governments democrat or republican, is very anti revolutionary and is conservative with a small c. His record towards the Serbs degutted the Jewish movement.

Yamit82. The origins of this man are hazy. He claimed to have tea with Ben Gurion. This man is out of the nigoted side of Judaism and is so inward looking that he cannot stop himself from attacking every other tendency and person on the planet. As he would have walked into Hitlers death camps he would have exclaimed “Good! At last we are alone”. This man does not have ONE single policy to put forward, he holds the ordinary peiople of Israel in total contempt, openly saying that only a minority counts. That is a minority with the knowledge and backed by a supernatural of course!

A Bill Levinson and a Ayn Reagan. Simply advocates for the Republicans in America. Their connection with Jews in Israel is purely secondary to that. Reagan is an open supporter of Nixon and the butchery of US in Vietnam and Cambodia. Essentially both in the footsteps of Joe McCarthy

The essential problem with all of these people, and I stress that they mirror rather accurately what goes on in the Jewish movement as a whole, for example Yamit82 is a Feiglin without his character, is that they turn their back consciously on finding out the truth about history.

To these people the English Revolution of Cromwell means nothing, the French Revolution nothing to them, and when it comes to the dialectic of socialist thought they deliberately close their minds because in American elitist tradition they are total anti communists, in fact are communist haters and baiters. Consequently you will never find one of these people trying to understand the phenomenon of Stalinism. All have nothing but hatred for Trotsky and set out consciously to hide and distort his principles and principled struggle.

And as we move in to a situation of extreme peril for the Jewish people, and extreme peril for people everywhere, in a situation where Nazi Islam represented by Iran has to be stopped, the very question of leadership and of  the building of the revolutionary party is number one question of the day.

The case of Rifka Bary was summed up in this comment on Jihadwatch

I hope I’m wrong…on both accounts, but…
The proof that she was in danger will be in the form of her dead body.
The proof that Iran wants to nuke Israel will come in the form of a mushroom cloud over same.
On the former, she only has to hold out a little longer and she can file for emancipation I bleeb.

On the latter…stash some gas cause Israels about to kick ass. No mushroom clouds allowed over Jerusalem…unless they drift over from Iran.

islam is a lie and
Truth is killing it.

Yes indeed this is correct. Islam is indeed a lie and the main purveyors of this lie are the Governments of the western caspitalist world, especially of the US and of the EU.

They are assisted in this by the Left, so called, which is in support of Islam.

the reference above to Iran, Israel, and the danger to Israel from an Iranian Nuclear bomb is especially apt.

We have shown in recent articles here that the essence of the Iranian regime is utter falsehood. I believe the technical name for thios form of Islam lying is “takkiya”.

This is of erxtreme importance because we on 4international believe that Iran with the nuclear bomb is of exttreme danger to Israel and its population of Jews.

Of course many Arabs would also be killed by any sort of Iranian nuclear action on Israel, because Israel geographically is a tiny country.

That however would not deter Iranian Islam in the slightest because the war which they waged against Iraq when Saddam was in power a couple of decades ago shows that Islam places no value on human life, including the life of its own people, since they have the concept of martyrdom, a concept to be used in any situation.

It appears that Rifka is a Sri Lankan girl and the following comment from JW shows that the danger to this girl is going to be long time

In it, Mr. Safi notes that individual apostates cannot be killed for a “quiet desertion of personal Islamic duties,” but can be put to death as “just punishment” when the apostate deserts Islam publicly.

You can’t desert Islam much more publicly than by seeking refuge through the Infidel courts.

Even if Rifqa’s parents decided that doing her in might draw too much unwanted attention on them at this point, members of the fundamentalist mosque the family attended in Ohio would likely “see to things”.

The other likely scenario is that she would be sent back to Sri Lanka–away from the possible protection of a sympathetic American legal system–and either murdered or forced into an arranged marriage and “reversion”.

This comment also on JW from Hesperando deals with a vital isue, that is how Islam seeks to obfuscate facts. the reference is to the Guardola report

Agent Guandolo has produced a nice tight, lean mean argument: no more fat or irrelevant tissue left for any Occam’s Razor to shave off: all muscle and brain. The PC MC establishment and the Muslim apologists they enable, however, don’t like just the facts, ma’am: they like, and need, obfuscation — lots of fat and complicating tissues to distract from the grimly clear diagnosis of the disease, and thence the appropriate treatment. The latter does this out of mendacious evil, the former out of what I call quantum ignorance, born of the muddled sincerity of its acolytes.

This case of a little ex Muslim girl in America is of extreme importance. Her name is Rifka Bary.

Jihadwatch has carried the following report by an FBI investigator into the probable or possible risk to Ms bary from her parents. The re`port is self explanatory

[begin report by FBI investigator Guandola here}

“Florida Department of Law Enforcement earns an F,” by John D. Guandolo for the Center for Security Policy, September 16:

[Note: John D. Guandolo is a 12 ½ year veteran of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. At the request of the Center for Security Policy, he prepared an assessment of the Florida Department of Law Enforcement’s (FDLE) investigation of the Ohio-based parents of former Muslim Rifqa Bary, the 17-year old apostate from Islam who has sought refuge in the state of Florida. The FDLE report is provided here, and is available as searchable text for the first time, below his analysis. The significant errors and omissions that Mr. Guandolo and other experts have found in this FDLE investigation show a failure in FDLE’s professional responsibility in handling the Rifqa Bary case. Governor Crist and FDLE management need to get new investigators on the job, start over, and this time do it right. A life may be at stake due to FDLE negligence– and willful blindness– in conducting this investigation.]
John D. Guandolo:
Response to FDLE Investigative Report on Rifqa Bary Matter

Upon my review of the report filed by the FDLE regarding the Rifqa Bary Matter in Florida, I offer my professional opinion.

1. The Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Investigative Summary OR-73-1741 encapsulates the investigation into allegations made by Fathima Rifqa Bary (hereafter referred to as “Rifqa Bary”) that she is or may be in physical danger from her father, Mohamed Bary, or others. Point 4 on page 2 of the report states Rifqa Bary believes her life to be in danger from an “honor killing” by her family or others, which she states is in accordance with Islamic Law. The report finds: “Ms. Bary’s concern that she may be killed because of her conversion from Islam to Christianity remains a subjective and speculative concern…” and concludes there is no conspiracy to commit violence against her. The investigators in this matter offer this opinion void of any knowable facts. In fact, a due diligence review would reveal the existence of authoritative Islamic Law texts officially translated into English. This review would further reveal Islamic Law – which is real law – has requirements and rules as to how to deal with those who leave Islam [eg The Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law, “Umdat al-Salik” also known as “Reliance of the Traveller” – publicly available]. If it can be shown (1) there is a requirement in Islamic Law for killing Ms. Bary as a publicly declared apostate from Islam, (2) that her parents adhere to Islamic Law, and (3) that she did, in fact, leave Islam and convert to Christianity, then the FDLE has a professional responsibility to include these facts in this report, and investigate this matter fully. There is nothing subjective about this – these are all ascertainable facts. I would hope the Florida State’s Attorney’s Office has done their due diligence on this matter and is aware of this

2. Mr. Bary’s comments to the Investigators claiming there is “absolutely not” any concept of Honor Killings under Islamic Law can also be comparatively and factually reviewed against Islamic Law. There are, in fact, rules and requirements as to how apostates should be handled within the context of Islamic Law, and these facts must be reviewed by FDLE if a professional and factual report is to be completed.

3. It was noted that the Executive Director of the Council on American Islamic Relations (CAIR) -Columbus (Ohio) and the Staff Attorney for CAIR were present during the interview of Mr. Bary by FDLE Investigators. Absent from the FDLE report was any mention that CAIR is a known Muslim Brotherhood entity and an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation (HLF) trial – the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history – revealing HLF as a Hamas/Muslim Brotherhood front in the United States. All defendants in this case were found guilty in November 2008 and are serving long prison terms. These facts about CAIR were testified to at trial, and accepted as legally true. They are irrefutable – the documents demonstrating these facts were stipulated to by the defense. The Muslim Brotherhood’s (MB) creed is “Allah is our goal; the Messenger is our guide: the Koran is our constitution; Jihad is our means; and martyrdom in the way of Allah is our inspiration,” and their stated objective in America is a “Civilization-Jihad” to destroy the United States from within, and the MB exists to implement Islamic Law here in the United States. All of these facts are relevant for two critical reasons. First, these material facts should be made known to the State Attorney’s Office and any Judges involved in this case as a matter of course. Secondly, when representatives from an organization that is objectively known to be hostile towards to the United States and unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history, are allowed to be present during a law enforcement interview of someone, it raises questions as to why they were allowed to be present at the interview at all. These facts further demand an objective look to determine if the Muslim Brotherhood itself has a position on Islamic Law and Apostasy. One of the MB’s two stated objectives is to implement Islamic Law in North America (and across the globe), and it is known they call for adherence to Islamic Law wherever Muslim communities exist. The Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law: Reliance of the Traveller is approved as valid Islamic Law by the International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT), a known Muslim Brotherhood entity, as proven in the HLF trial. In Reliance of the Traveller, Investigators will find specific legal doctrine on how apostates are to be treated under Islamic Law. Furthermore, the Muslim Brotherhood has a history of officially addressing the issue of Apostasy. In 1984, Ismail R. Al-Faruki , the Founder of IIIT, stated: “That is why Islamic Law has treated people who have converted out of Islam as political traitors…[Islam] must deal with the traitors when convicted after due process of law either with banishment, life imprisonment, or capital punishment…but once their conversion is proclaimed, they must be dealt with as traitors to the state.” Apostasy is also specifically addressed in Peace and the Limits of War, published by IIIT and written by Louay Safi, the former Executive Director of IIIT, Malaysia, the Association of Muslim Social Scientists (a proven Muslim Brotherhood entity), and the Executive Director of the Islamic Society of North America’s (ISNA) Leadership Development Council. ISNA was proven to be a Muslim Brotherhood entity and is also an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history – HLF. The book is also approved by the Secretary General of ISNA. In it, Mr. Safi notes that individual apostates cannot be killed for a “quiet desertion of personal Islamic duties,” but can be put to death as “just punishment” when the apostate deserts Islam publicly (p. 31).

4. This is a statement of facts regarding this matter:

* There are requirements in Islamic Law regarding someone who deserts Islam
* The Muslim Brotherhood’s objective is the implementation of Islamic Law in the United States
* Rifqa Bary has left Islam and become a Christian
* Rifqa Bary has made statements to FDLE officials and others that her parents have threatened to kill her because she has left Islam
* The Bary’s appear to be adherent to Islamic Law
* The Bary’s appear at an interview with two Muslim Brotherhood representatives doing business as CAIR, a group known to be hostile towards the United States which is also an unindicted co-conspirator in the largest terrorism financing trial in U.S. history
* The Muslim Brotherhood supports the killing of Muslims who publicly leave Islam

5. It is my professional opinion that sufficient Probable Cause exists to believe that Ms Bary’s concerns for her personal safety are based in a realistic and factual understanding of her situation, and, therefore, a further criminal investigation is warranted

A comment (by Cornelius) summed up the situation and problems which this young lady faces from Islam rather aptly:

Rifqa had better prepare an escape plan in case the Florida courts do the unconscionable and attempt to return her to her parents.

The recent UN report on the Gaza War by the UN is going to be quoted by every antisemite for months and years. It is a stitch up.

hence the following analysis is of great importance in

1. understanding the depth of anti-semitism involved now against Israel

2. The general weakness of the Israeli Governmental and ambassadorial response to this type of anti-semitism

[begin analysis here]

“The mission concluded that actions amounting to war crimes, and possibly in some respects crimes against humanity, were committed by the Israel Defence Force,”

U.N. investigator Richard Goldstone told reporters.

In response, Israel’s diplomatic mission in Geneva issued a statement that criticized Goldstone’s mission and explained why Israel did not cooperate with it.

Goldstone, a noted South African jurist, recommended that the U.N. Security Council call on Israel to fully investigate possible crimes committed by its forces. His report made clear that Palestinian authorities should do the same regarding crimes committed by Palestinian fighters.

The probes should be “independent and in conformity with international standards” and establish a committee of human rights experts to monitor any such proceedings in Israel and the Palestinian territories.

If either Israel or the Palestinians fail to do so, then the 15-nation council should refer the situation in Gaza to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague, the report said.

Goldstone said Israeli efforts to investigate allegations of war crimes by its soldiers had so far been “pusillanimous.”

We all know how biased the UN is. I recently posted The Goldstone show-trial by Melanie Phillips . She makes a very strong case that not only the Commission Members were biased but that the mandate was also.

The degree of objectivity on this Commission can be gauged from the mandate it was given by the UNHRC, which announced it was dispatching an urgent, independent international fact-finding mission, to be appointed by the President of the Council, to investigate all violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law by the occupying Power, Israel, against the Palestinian people throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in the occupied Gaza Strip, due to the current aggression, and calls upon Israel not to obstruct the process of investigation and to fully cooperate with the mission.

So this ‘objective’ inquiry had been told before it was even established that the guilty party in Gaza was Israel, designated by the UN as the ‘occupying power’; that it was guilty of ‘aggression’ and ‘violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law’; and that the Palestinians of Gaza were the victims of this Israeli aggression.

Israel, of course, no longer occupies Gaza. Nor was it guilty of aggression: it was instead defending itself against the aggression of Hamas who had fired some 6000 rockets at Israeli citizens. Nor did it commit any violations of international law and human rights: it was Hamas who did so repeatedly — not just against Israel but also the Arab inhabitants of Gaza who were used as human shields and mass hostages – and then made false accusations against Israel of committing such violations, falsehoods promulgated as true by the UN.

But the aggression and human rights violations committed by Hamas – the cause of the conflict – weren’t even to be considered by this objective, fact-finding Commission. Having been set up on the premise that Israel was guilty, it was directed to gather evidence to support the conclusion that had already been reached. As the Queen in Alice might have said, ‘verdict first, evidence afterwards’. Unless Goldstone has torn up the terms of his mandate, his Commission will possess all the objectivity of the show-trials of Stalin.

Nevertheless this matter is a huge problem for Israel and isn’t going to go away. Do not be tempted to think perhaps there is something to it or to think that at least they also charged the “Palestinians” with similar things. The latter is immaterial and the former is without foundation.

Findings are made up of two things.

First the Commission Members must ascertain the facts. That’s not easy to do when the judges are biased and the witnessed are more than biased. They are usually liars. We have seen far too many Arab “witnesses” who weren’t even witnesses, lying through their teeth. I would name Jenin, al Qana, and al Dura as prime examples. A proper court of law has all kinds of rules of evidence to help the court get to the truth. I dare say that this investigation didn’t come close to to doing so, nor could it given its makeup.

Secondly there is a matter of law and with any law, lawyers can differ, even dramatically, particularly when few cases have been decided from which guidance may be attained.

Prior to the war, I wrote Bomb Gaza before invading. The legal opinions set out therein are entirely at variance with the interpretation of the law used by the Commission Members.

The Assault on Israel’s Right to Self-Defense was described by Abraham Bell in his article on International Law and Gaza. Dr. Avi Bell is a member of the Faculty of Law at Bar-Ilan University, Visiting Professor at Fordham University Law School, and Director of the International Law Forum at the Jerusalem Center for Public Affairs. He clearly advised that Israel has the right of self defense and described the law as it pertains.

But I was left with some nagging questions. What do the principles and rules he set out mean in practice. I wanted to know if Israel had no choice but to invade or whether it could just use artillery and bombs, even unintelligent inexpensive bombs. I fully understood that the restriction on certain supplies entering Gaza was legal and so were targeted killings though our “international friends” disagree.

I asked Bruce Tucker Smith, JD, LL.M. (International Law), Lt Col USAFR (ret), the Co-author “Seventh Psalm”.

Here is his considered opinion.

Criticism leveled at Israel for her response to terrorist attacks by Hamas in the Gaza says more about those who criticize Israel than it does about the legality of the reprisals.

Can Israel respond to Hamas’ attacks? In what strength? By what means? These questions are traditionally answered in the salons of international legal debate, by an examination of the status of the combatants.

We therefore ask: What is Gaza? What is Hamas? Answer these questions honestly, and there is little room for discussion or debate about the legality or legitimacy of Israel’s military responses to date…or her options in the future. Answer these questions honestly and you will have taken a long step toward resolving the endless criticism of Israel’s military response to the endless stream of rockets cascading into Israel from the west. (In fact, more than 5000 since Israel ceased her occupation of the Gaza.)

Gaza is not a formally-defined, internationally-recognized state. It is, at best, a protectorate or a territory…but certainly it does NOT enjoy the status of international “statehood” that would entitle such an entity to claim sovereignty over her national borders and the land within.

Hamas, of course, is the Islamic Resistance Movement, which became active in the early stages of the intafada. It operates primarily in the Gaza (and also in Judea and Samaria). Its stated goal: the eradication of the Israeli people and the establishment of an Islamic Palestinian state in place of Israel. Hamas, of course, has the outright backing of Iran in its genocidal efforts to murder Israelis.

What Hamas is NOT, is a recognized armed force operating under the aegis of a duly-elected state; it is not a signatory to any of the Geneva Conventions; it is not a member of either the United Nations or the Security Council; it does NOT campaign openly under a national flag and it’s operatives don’t wear recognized badges of nationality or military rank. In the legal parlance of the “Law of War,” Hamas, as an entity, is not a recognized “combatant” and, hence, not entitled to the protections of the Geneva Conventions. The latter cannot be strongly enough emphasized: Hamas, and the people who support or conceal its efforts, are entitled to NO special protections under any aspect of the Law Of War, of which the Geneva Conventions are but a part.

By contrast, those nations, armies or entities who DO ascribe to and respect the Geneva Conventions; who DO campaign under a national flag and chain-of-command ARE entitled to the special protections of the Conventions!

As the Olmert government has repeatedly said, Israel will not negotiate with entities that do not recognize the legitimate demands of the international community, as voiced through the United States, European Union, the United Nations and Russia! Hence, Israel’s use of force against Hamas.

The United Nations Charter, Article 51, clearly and plainly provides Israel with the necessary legal armor to pursue and rout Hamas. “Nothing in the present Charter,” Article 51 reads, “ Shall impair the inherent right of individual or collective self-defence if an armed attack occurs against a Member of the United Nations, until the Security Council has taken measures necessary to maintain international peace and security.”

Other than a few weak-worded Resolutions, the Security Council has failed to take action to protect Israel’s safety and sovereignty—hence, she is free to act as she will militarily! And, in my opinion, she is free of many of the traditional limitations on the use of military force – at least where Hamas is concerned.

    “rule of proportionality”

The oft-misunderstood “rule of proportionality” is usually cited, wrongly, by the left in critique of Israel’s operations against Hamas in Gaza.

One must recognize that the “rule” is, in fact, no rule at all. It is not clearly defined in any statute or treaty. Rather, it can best be described as the resulting synthesis of “customary international law” which is derived from a reading of the ancient Hague Conventions (written in an era when warfare was defined as set-piece battles, conducted by brightly-clad armies amassed on the sunlit fields of Europe) and the 1949 Geneva Conventions which, in part, proscribe armed reprisals against civilians. Sadly, the “rule” is frequently bent or twisted to meet the ends of the particular sophistry at hand.

In its simplest application, the “rule” generally means that an army cannot inflict collateral damage upon an enemy combatant (or the surrounding civilian populace) in excess of the legitimate military advantage conferred upon the attacking army. In other words, a nation’s military response must be necessary and proportional to the injury suffered.

“Legal scholars” frequently say, “If someone punched you in the nose, you don’t burn their house down.” To be sure, those are seductive words, rationally attractive, and intellectually inviting…but utter hokum in the face of reality. Taken to its logical absurdity, such a definition of the “rule” would prevent an army from EVER amassing superior firepower against an enemy, lest that army be accused of a disproportionate use of force! The fact is, wars are won when one side utilizes a disproportionate amount of force to defeat an enemy …otherwise, the Third Reich would still sit in power with the Allied armies resting somewhere near the Seine River.

The “rule” is often manipulated in the court of public opinion, particularly in the era of “asymmetrical warfare,” the current buzz-term which describes the conflict between western nations who possess large standing armies and billion-dollar gadgetry and terrorist groups who employ simple, terroristic, and patently illegal means of waging armed conflict.

The world’s (leftist) academic “elite” and media sympathetic to Islamic fundamentalism almost always focus on Israels’ response to terrorism! No doubt, leftist apologists are motivated by some misplaced, misguided sense of “unfairness” that a well-organized, well-trained and well-equipped IDF would pursue and kill Hamas terrorists who intentionally clad themselves in civilian attire and hide their operations in schools, hospitals and Mosques.

The simple fact is that the “rule” of proportionality” shrinks to near inapplicability when Hamas uses civilians as shields or when it purposely attacks the innocent—the central most effective tools in the terrorist’s arsenal.

    “Collateral damage”

Another common misstatement in the public discourse surrounds the killing of civilians. Of course, NO one would countenance murder and nothing in this essay should be construed as a brusque dismissal of civilian deaths …but a distinction in the Law of War regarding civilian deaths is frequently and intentionally ignored. The Law of War proscribes the INTENTIONAL targeting of civilians, not the inadvertent and unfortunate loss of civilian life in an armed conflict. Yet, whenever inadvertent civilian deaths DO occur in the Gaza or in the West Bank or in Baghdad, the left immediately and uniformly decries those deaths as “war crimes” – which they most certainly are not!

Such is the nature of public debate, particularly in the wake of 9/11.

In short…Israel’s defense forces are entitled to use whatever means is at her disposal to search out and destroy terrorist operatives. In sum: Israel is free to employ ALL munitions, tactics, equipment and personnel in her arsenal to defend herself against the outlaw Hamas terrorist organization. Short of the intentional targeting and murder of truly uninvolved and innocent civilians, Israel can (and should) operate as freely as she desires to protect her territorial sovereignty and the lives of her citizens.

So, it is not international law that Israel is concerned about. The Government of Israel is more concerned about the cries of the international community than the cries of its children and mothers. It is more concerned with the lives of Arabs than the lives of its own citizens including its soldiers.

Israel has the right to bomb Gaza and use artillery. Its about time they did.

If Israel invades instead, with the loss of many of its own soldiers, I submit it would be guilty of a war crime against its own people. At a minimum Israel would be guilty of criminal negligence if it sent the IDF soldiers to their deaths rather than to bomb.

It is morally repugnant to sacrifice your own soldiers to save the lives of your enemies. Forget about world opinion.

Bell and Smith are both very clear on the law. Rest assured that the Commission Members were not applying their understanding of the law but rather a self serving interpretation chosen to ensure Israel’s guilt.

UN Anti-Semitism and Israel

by Felix Quigley

17 September 2009

The key to understanding how deeply antisemitic is this latest UN report on Gaza (the Gaza War) is to understand the original terms for the UN “Investigation” and to see how the main author has changed these (because they look so bad)  in the introduction to his report. Melanie Phillips has dealt with this in a clear fashion in this article. it si vital reading and is of historical and archival interest.

We will place this with other articles under “UN Anti-Semitism and Israel”

The Moral Inversion of Richard Goldstone

By Melanie Phillips,The Spectator

So now we can see how Richard Goldstone thinks he has preserved his judicial reputation while perpetrating a blood libel against Israel. He has produced a report which, as anticipated, finds that Israel committed all the ‘war crimes’ during Operation Cast Lead of which his Mission members had decided it was guilty before even starting their deliberations, along with the NGOs whose unremitting hostility and malice towards Israel and history of peddling Palestinian propaganda as fact did not deter the Mission from uncritically accepting their evidence as the truth, thus finding Hamas guilty of no crimes at all — except one. That was, by an amazing coincidence, the one set of crimes it committed which the world was forced to acknowledge actually happened – the firing of rockets from Gaza into Israel with the sole intention of killing Israeli civilians. By referring to this en passant, devoting minimal attention to it in the course of his 570- page report the vast majority of which is devoted to allegations against Israel, he engineered the ‘even-handed’ headline he needed to maintain his credibility:

There is evidence that both Israeli and Palestinian forces committed war crimes in the recent Gaza conflict, the official UN report says.

It is, however, only Israel which is required to conduct investigations into such claims — and thus only Israel which Goldstone recommends should be prosecuted at the International Criminal Court if those investigations aren’t carried out to the satisfaction of the UN. So much for even-handedness.

With this cynical veneer, Goldstone does worse even than establish a moral equivalence between the instigators of genocidal violence and those who were attempting to defend themselves against it. He presents Israel, the victims of such aggression, as war criminals and the Palestinians, the actual instigators of terror, as its victims. This is not moral equivalence but moral inversion.

He acknowledges no such crimes by Hamas within Gaza itself — not least against other Palestinians — such as turning the entire population of Gaza into hostages by siting its rockets and terrorist infrastructure amongst that population and additionally using them as human shields. Even worse, he presents the Palestinian aggressors as victims of Israel, requiring Israel to make reparation to those from whose houses and streets it was being attacked. No reparations to Israel are required from any Palestinians, even though Goldstone accepts that Hamas committed war crimes and crimes against humanity by firing thousands of missiles at its civilians.

To cover himself completely against the fact that the degraded aim of the mission he headed was to delegitimise Israel, his report claims at the start that his mandate from the President of the UN Council on Human Rights was:

… to investigate all violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law that might have been committed at any time in the context of the military operations that were conducted in Gaza during the period from 27 December 2008 and 18 January 2009, whether before, during or after.

Now this is curious, since UN Resolution S-9/1 which established the mandate for the Goldstone commission said the Human Rights Council

“Decides to dispatch an urgent, independent international fact-finding mission, to be appointed by the President of the Council, to investigate all violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law by the occupying Power, Israel, against the Palestinian people throughout the Occupied Palestinian Territory, particularly in the occupied Gaza Strip, due to the current aggression, and calls upon Israel not to obstruct the process of investigation and to fully cooperate with the mission.”

So the UNHRC mandate explicitly limited Goldstone to investigating solely Israel, which it deemed guilty of human rights violations during Cast Lead — a mandate whose terms as set out in the UNHRC resolution cannot be changed; while Goldstone’s report cites a mandate which is quite different from that resolution, which is ascribed not to the Council but to the President, and which encompasses all such violations during Cast Lead. Goldstone himself said he had changed the terms of the mandate in ‘informal discussions’. It looks therefore as if he and the UNHRC President unilaterally tore up both the Council’s mandate and UN regulations to provide Goldstone with the fig-leaf to disguise the moral bankruptcy of the entire process.

Of the countless distortions, errors and absurdities in this travesty of a report, the following jumped out at me from an initial reading.

1) The first error is in the title itself: HUMAN RIGHTS IN PALESTINE AND OTHER OCCUPIED ARAB TERRITORIES: Report of the United Nations Fact Finding Mission on the Gaza Conflict

But Gaza is not occupied by Israel, as is quite clear from even a cursory look at the Hague Convention which lays down the criteria for occupation. For Goldstone to say that Gaza is still occupied demonstrates either an ignorance of international law quite remarkable for a professor of international law, or that he is signed up to the ideology which deliberately uses such mis-statements to delegitimise Israel.

2) Par 27: Goldstone describes Gaza as blockaded by Israel. He makes no mention of Gaza’s border with Egypt which Egypt keeps closed. Is Goldstone as ignorant of topography as he appears to be of international law? Unlikely, since he also states (par that the Mission sought and obtained the assistance of the Government of Egypt to enable it to enter the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing.

3) Par 30: ‘The data provided by non-governmental sources with regard to the percentage of civilians among those killed are generally consistent and raise very serious concerns with regard to the way Israel conducted the military operations in Gaza.’

But Goldstone does not mention that Israel provided a detailed breakdown of the Palestinians killed in Gaza and stated that the vast majority of these were Hamas or other terror operatives. Even the UN eventually acknowledged that some 75 per cent of the dead in Gaza were Hamas terrorists.

4) Pars 33-34 Goldstone says he does not accept that the Gaza police targeted by Israeli military strikes were ‘part of the terrorist infrastructure’; and that therefore the attacks on police buildings
constituted deliberate attacks on civilian objects in violation of the rule of customary international humanitarian law whereby attacks must be strictly limited to military objectives.

But as Jonathan Halevi has reported for the Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs:

    — Among the 343 members of the Palestinian security forces who were killed, 286 have been identified as terror organization members (83 percent). Another 27 fighters belonging to units undergoing infantry training raises this total to 313 (91 percent).

    — Lumped under the rubric of the ‘Palestinian police’ are all the security bodies that fulfilled combat and terror roles against Israel, the intelligence and preventive intelligence bodies, as well as those active in policing and maintaining order. Those serving in all of the Palestinian security apparatuses in 2007 and 2008 took part in terror activity and fighting against the IDF.

    — In the December 27, 2008, attack on an officer training course at Gaza police headquarters, 89 dead were counted. Of these, 60 (67 percent) belonged to Hamas and almost all were members of its military wing, the al-Qassam Brigades. The total number of terror activists and fighters among those killed at police headquarters was 81 (91 percent).

Indeed, Goldstone himself goes on to say he accepts that there may be individual members of the Gaza police that were at the same time members of Palestinian armed groups and thus combatants yet he nevertheless still finds that these were somehow ‘civilian objects’!

5) In attempting to discover whether Palestinian civilians were adequately protected by Hamas, Goldstone says delicately

“(par 35)…that the mission was faced with a certain reluctance by the persons it interviewed in Gaza to discuss the activities of the armed groups.”

A ‘certain reluctance,’ eh? Like a ‘certain reluctance’ to be thrown off the top of a tall building? Maybe the utter dislocation of this report from reality is also due to the fact that

as part of Israel’s refusal to cooperate, it banned the panel members from entering the country.

The panel made two visits to Gaza, entering from Egypt, but conducted the bulk of their research from Geneva.

Mmnn, yes, Geneva, home to the UNHRC, is as everyone knows where every conscientious and objective researcher goes to manufacture libellous claims to delegitimise Israel find those authoritative first-hand accounts of what actually went on in Gaza.

6) Then there is Goldstone’s treatment of the mortar shelling of al-Fakhura junction in Jabalya next to an UNRWA school. This was the site of the infamous accusation by the UN that Israel had shelled the school itself, killing more than 40 civilians sheltering there. The UN eventually admitted that this was entirely false and the school had not been shelled at all. Israel had instead returned mortar fire at the street next to the school from where firing was still continuing, killing a small number of Hamas terrorists and an even smaller number of civilians who were standing near to the Hamas mortar position.

But Goldstone concludes:

Par 688… The Mission notes that the attack may have been in response to a mortar attack from an armed Palestinian group but considers the credibility of Israel’s position damaged by the series of inconsistencies and factual inaccuracies.

So the fact that Israel was the victim of an incendiary libel by the UN, which said falsely that its school had been hit and inflated the number of casualties — a lie that went round the world inciting hysteria and violence against Israel and Jews — is totally ignored; instead Israel is pilloried for its (undoubtedly) chaotic response as it gradually pieced together what had actually happened.

7) Goldstone says:

Par 209. Since 1967, about 750,000 Palestinians have been detained at some point by the Government of Israel, according to Palestinian human rights organizations.

This claim was taken straight from Sahar Francis, director of the Addameer Prisoner Support and Human Rights Association. As Elder of Ziyon observes, however, the figure is ludicrous:

In order for the 750,000 number to be accurate, it would mean roughly 500 arrests a week every week since 1967. In order for 50,000 new prisoners to appear this year, it would mean around a thousand arrests a week. The PCHR [Palestinian Commission on Human Rights] keeps track of the number of Palestinian Arabs arrested every week. Taking the past two months as examples, we see the date of the weekly report and the number of arrests:

    8/26 — 16
    8/19 — 28
    8/12 — 17
    8/5 — 25
    7/29 — 14
    7/22 — 21
    7/15 — 10
    7/8 — 18
    7/1 — 28

This doesn’t quite add up to tens of thousands of arrests a year.

And yet, like the rest of the claims made by these NGOs, Goldstone just shoved it straight into his report. (For more reputable and authoritative facts about Cast Lead, see here.)

In short, Goldstone adduces no evidence of Israeli war crimes at all. He merely recycles the claims made by hostile NGOs peddling unverifiable Palestinian propaganda as fact – including more than 30 references to Human Rights Watch, the anti-Israel organisation of which Goldstone himself was until recently a member of the board.

As such, the Palestinians who used other Palestinians as hostages, booby-trapped their civilian areas and used women and children as human shields are given a virtually free pass by Goldstone. Israel, which conducted an operation that was targeted with astonishing precision against terrorists operating inside civilian areas, taking every possible precaution to safeguard civilian life by repeatedly dropping leaflets and making cell-phone calls beforehand to warn residents to evacuate, is accused by Goldstone of war crimes and crimes against humanity.

Through such moral inversion and the reproduction of distortions, lies, smears, errors and omissions Goldstone has thus anathematised a country’s defence against terrorism and genocidal aggression. But then, he doesn’t accept that in Cast Lead Israel was defending itself. Astoundingly, he characterises the aim of Cast Lead thus:

1674 The operation fits into a continuum of policies aimed at pursuing Israel’s political objectives with regard to Gaza and the Occupied Palestinian Territory as a whole. Many such policies are based on or result in violations of international human rights and humanitarian law. Military objectives as stated by the government of Israel do not explain the facts ascertained by the Mission, nor are they congruous with the patterns identified by the Mission during the investigation.

The implication is that Cast Lead had a ‘political objective’ of subduing Gaza. But it was provoked solely by the 6000-rocket attack from Gaza. It was not ‘political’. It was undertaken to defend the lives of its citizens. Having stated that the impact of Cast Lead

cannot be understood and assessed in isolation from developments prior and subsequent to it

Goldstone proceeds to omit the key ‘development’ that explained Israel’s military action — the rocket bombardment from Gaza of its citizens. He thus presents Israel as the aggressor and Hamas as the victims. What malice.

This disreputable piece of work will in turn embolden and empower Hamas and Palestinian terrorism, provide the jihadis of the UN and their accomplices with the means further to persecute Israel and endorse its genocidal attackers, and incite the Arab and Muslim world still further to aggression and to war.

With this report, Goldstone demonstrably forfeits his claim to legal, moral or intellectual credibility. He should be disowned by the legal profess

Russian Stalinists…Iran’s nuclear program is purely peaceful

by Felix Quigley

September 14, 2009

The reactionary and antisemitic alliance against Israel is shown in this from the Russian stalinist now capitalists

Russia has no reason to doubt that Iran‘s nuclear program is purely peaceful

The US will join other major powers in seeking an early meeting with Iran although Tehran’s refusal to discuss its nuclear program was described by Washington officials as “disappointing.” They said the Obama administration is consistent in its aim of dialogue with Iran and wants the meeting offered by Tehran to take place as soon as possible to assess Iran’s readiness to deal with the nuclear issue ahead of the Six-Power discussions taking place later this month on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Far from meeting the Obama administration’s gesture halfway, Iran’s new defense minister Ahmed Wahidi delivered a fierce attack on Washington Saturday, Sept. 12, warning the US “not to try the militarize the region” and denying the production of weapons of mass destruction as “contrary to our religion and principles.”

DEBKAfile‘s Washington sources say the Obama White House is relying on the public’s short memory on Iran’s prevarications. On July 20, 2008, the six powers including the US confronted Iran at the negotiating table in Geneva. Iran’s nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili listened quietly to the Bush administration’s undersecretary of state William Burns’ words on its nuclear activities, then announced he was not competent to respond and would refer to Tehran for instructions. Jalili never did come back with his government’s response.

After Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stated loud and clear last week that the nuclear file was closed for Tehran, the Iranian negotiators will no doubt repeat this exercise which had the effect of tying US hands for more than a year and will keep them tied for several more months. Whatever the outcome, it is no good Washington relying on tough new sanctions because that door has been shut by Moscow and Beijing’s published intention to block them.

The former commander of the big Israeli air base at Hatezerim, Brig. (ret.) Shelly Guttman, said Saturday that for the first time since the Yom Kippur War, Israel faces an existential threat. Nevertheless, Russia and France are leading an internatonal drive to stall military action as well.

Thursday, Sept. 10, Russian prime minister Vladimir Putin warned against the use of force or new sanctions against Iran, the toughest caution Israel has heard so far. Neither course will “solve the problem,” said the Russian leader.

The caution from Moscow followed frantic consultations in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv in the last week for a decision on whether Israel should resort to its military option for pre-empting the rise of a nuclear-armed Iran already on the threshold, according to US intelligence agencies. Our Moscow sources say the Russians may be expected to keep up their verbal pressure on Jerusalem.

Putin was supported from Paris the same day, when France released the opinion offered by French army chief Gen. Jean-Louis Georgelin in Washington that military force to wipe out Iran’s nuclear program “was no longer viable.”

While Putin explained his objections to military action as: “Russia has no reason to doubt that Iran’s nuclear program is purely peaceful,” the French general argued: “It is very difficult to plan a military operation in Iran, because we are not sure in one shot to be able to solve a problem and if you fail in one shot…

DEBKAfile Exclusive Analysis

September 12, 2009

by Felix Quigley

September 13, 2009

Europe is riven through and through with Jew hatred and its modern equivalent Israel hatred.

This is all tied up in the hatred of the British rulers for Judaism and their long standing wish to be in control of Jerusalem, which in turn comes from the habits that the English acquired when they were the force on earth which by the great grace of god ruled the waves, on an empire where the “sun never set”!!!

So as the Dutch, also old time empiricists, decide they will attack free speech against Islam and prepare to jail Geert Wilders,  so the English move up a gear AGAINST ISRAEL and decide to spend their meagre resources AND HAVE THE SAS TRAIN THE LIBYAN ISLAM TERRORISTS AND JEW HATERS.

It all actually fits very nicely

Britain’s relationship with Libya has been under the spotlight since Abdelbaset al Megrahi was freed from a Scottish jail on compassionate grounds last month after being diagnosed as suffering from terminal prostate cancer and given three months to live.

Gordon Brown has faced claims that his Government helped engineer Megrahi’s release to promote Britain’s commercial interests, particularly energy, in Libya.

Downing Street has denied the allegations, but Jack Straw, the Justice Minister, has admitted that trade was a factor in deciding to include Megrahi in an earlier prisoner transfer agreement with Libya. Megrahi was the only person convicted for the murder of 270 people killed in the bombing in 1988 of Pan Am flight 103.

The disclosure that members of the SAS are training their Libyan counterparts will further raise suspicions about exactly what has been agreed behind the scenes between Tripoli and Britain.

It will also infuriate families of the Lockerbie victims and further sour relations with America. Earlier this week, President Barack Obama told the Prime Minister of his “disappointment” over Megrahi’s release.

Defence sources said the training arrangement must have been given high-level political approval.

Members of Britain’s elite regiment are angry at having to help train soldiers from a country that for years armed terrorists they fought against.

An SAS source said: “A small SAS training team have been doing it for the last six months as part of this cosy deal with the Libyans.

“From our perspective we cannot see it as part of anything else other than the Megrahi deal.” Another SAS soldier said: “The IRA was our greatest adversary now we are training their backers. There was a weary rolling of the eyes when we were told about this.”

The Ministry of Defence refuses to comment on special forces activities, but sources have admitted that SAS reserves have bolstered the team that has been training “Libyan infantry in basic skills”.

A senior defence source admitted: “This is a huge political embarrassment.’’

The first moves towards setting up the training agreement are believed to have begun after Tony Blair visited

Libya as Prime Minister in 2004. However, the deal was only finalised and “signed off” by Mr Brown earlier this year.

Robin Horsfall, a former SAS soldier who took part in the Iranian Embassy siege in 1980 and fought the IRA in Northern Ireland, said:

“There is a long list of British soldiers who have died because of Gaddafi funding terrorists.

“The SAS is being ordered to do something it knows is morally wrong.’’

The team – a troop of between four and 14 men – is training the Libyans in counter-terrorism techniques, including covert surveillance.

However, the “full spectrum of techniques” learned from fighting Islamic terrorism in Iraq and Afghanistan is not expected to be passed on.

Once an international pariah, Col Gaddafi agreed in 2003 to give up Libya’s weapons of mass destruction and has since enjoyed steadily improving relations with the West.

The key political issue int he world today is the threat of the Nuclear Bomb from Islam in Iran to the Jewish people in Israel. There is no doubt about this.

But look at Europe. Tomorrow we will look at what the British are doing having the SAS train the Libyan terror regime. But today breaks the news that the Dutch dhimmis to Islam are putting Geert Wilders on trial. Soon it will be a crime to defend Israel from Islam in Iran.

Breaking news from the Netherlands. Dutch biggest newspaper calls it the trial of the century (NL), because the government today, September 12th, announced it is going to trial Geert Wilders on January 20th (See also: the earlier court ruling that made it possible). The timing is remarkable, because it’s just before the municipality elections, a busy time for the politician.

Busy or not, Geert Wilders will have to defend him self in criminal court for speaking out against Islam. The charges brought against him are: racism and hate mongering (no actual hate crimes have ever been connected to him, his political movement or his speeches).

Renowned criminal trial lawyer Bram Moszkowicz will represent him during the trial. It’s still unknown what his defence will look like. But in today’s paper Wilders says he might call radical Imams and other idiots to the stand in support of his defence.

“I find it horrible that I’m prosecuted” says Wilders. “This is a political trial and it’s sad that I’m prosecuted as a criminal for only voicing my political opinions. I hope free speech will prevail. [But] I am convinced that the trial can only lead to my acquittal”.

The trial might even gain him some extra votes. After all, he can be easily perceived as the political underdog, speaking up against a powerful, but very corrupt, Dutch political elite. But Wilders says he does not care for extra votes: “This will cost me a lot of time and energy. This is not a [just a regular] debate. Here my neck is on the line. I much rather didn’t have this trial and have 5 parliamentary seats less in the polls. I don’t want to be a suspect” in a criminal trial.

His lawyer, Bram Moszkowicz says he want to call “internationally renowned free speech specialist” to the stand. A logical move, if you perceive this trial as one of the most import trials against free speech in Europe and the rest of the Western world.

Or will 2010 be the year in which speaking out against Islam makes you a criminal?

There are many, many people who defend the horror story which is Ahmadinejad against the charge that he threatened in a speech to wipe Israel off the map. This includes rather directly Presiden Obama because Obama insists on dealing with Ahmadinejad in a friendly manner in discussions etc.

Why get bogged down though in a debate about translation!

Why not take a step back and try to see the overall picture, which shows the elvel of hate for Israel from this Government of Islam in Iran!

I think that is much better because on the basis of that overall and sober assessment it is possible to reach a more sober understanding and judgement: If Iranian Islam has the Nuclear Bomb what would it be used for.

In this I tend to think of the antisemitism of the Nazis and what always struck me as very notable and not to be forgotten. In the depths of their defeat and obvious despair the Nazis did not give up the killing of the Jews, rather they intensified it, a fact that struck even Eichmann as peculiar, and he was up to his neck in the killing.

So in dealing with this issue of the Jew haters and what they would do, or not do, there is something always which does not respond to logic.

That is why those who say that Iran with the Nuclear Bomb represents safety for Israel to me are Jew Haters.

Let us look at this selection of Wikipedia on the subject of how the Iranian followers and interpreters of Islam hate Israel and hate Israelis.

I feel it is a very powerful hate. The only thing I can compare it to is the German Nazis.

In the following when you see references amde to “The Palestinians” it is well to remember that the Arabs who were then living in Palestine (but never addressing themselves as “Palestinians“) were actually Nazis, and gfollowers in the main of Hajj Amin el Husseini!

Statement during 2005 Muslim Summit

Wikinews has related news: Iranian president says move Israel to Europe

On December 8, 2005, Ahmadinejad gave an interview with Iran’s Arabic channel ‘Al-Alam’ during a summit of Muslim nations in Islam’s holy city of Mecca. The interview contained remarks that were widely condemned as Holocaust denial:

Some European countries insist on saying that during World War II, Hitler burned millions of Jews and put them in concentration camps… Any historian, commentator or scientist who doubts that is taken to prison or gets condemned. Although we don’t accept this claim, if we suppose it is true, if the Europeans are honest they should give some of their provinces in Europe — like in Germany, Austria or other countries — to the Zionists and the Zionists can establish their state in Europe. You offer part of Europe and we will support it.

The remarks were condemned by Israeli, European and American politicians,[60][64][65] Kofi Annan “was shocked,”[66][67] and Saudi, Turkish, and Iranian officials sharply criticized his speech because it “marred a Mecca summit dedicated to showing Islam’s moderate face.”[68][69]

Shortly after these remarks were made, Iran’s Interior Minister, Mostafa Pourmohammadi, claimed Ahmadinejad’s remarks had been misunderstood:

Actually the case has been misunderstood. (Ahmadinejad) did not mean to raise this matter. [He] wanted to say that if others harmed the Jewish community and created problems for the Jewish community, they have to pay the price themselves. People like the Palestinian people or other nations should not pay the price (for it).[70]

Statements on Israel’s 60th Birthday

On Israel’s 60th birthday, Ahmadinejad gave a speech, in which, according to the official IRNA news agency, he stated

Those who think they can revive the stinking corpse of the usurping and fake Israeli regime by throwing a birthday party are seriously mistaken. Today the reason for the Zionist regime’s existence is questioned, and this regime is on its way to annihilation.”[71]

Ahmadinejad also stated that Israel “has reached the end like a dead rat after being slapped by the Lebanese”, which is presumably a reference to the July-August 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah.

In a subsequent speech, Ahmadinejad stated “The Zionist regime is dying,” and that “The criminals imagine that by holding celebrations (…) they can save the Zionist regime from death.” Ahmadinejad also stated that “They should know that regional nations hate this fake and criminal regime and if the smallest and briefest chance is given to regional nations they will destroy (it)”.[72]

Statement on Israel on the Anniversary of Death of Ayatollah Khomeini

While speaking at a gathering of foreign guests marking the 19th anniversary of the death of Iran’s late revolutionary leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, the official IRNA news agency quoted Ahmadinejad as stating that

“You should know that the criminal and terrorist Zionist regime which has 60 years of plundering, aggression and crimes in its file has reached the end of its work and will soon disappear off the geographical scene.”[73]

Statement on Israel during UN Summit on Global Food Security

While visiting Rome, Italy for the United Nations summit on global food security, organized by the Food and Agriculture Organisation, in June 2008, Ahmadinejad stated, through a translator, that

“People like my comments, because people will save themselves from the imposition of the Zionists. European peoples have suffered the greatest damage from Zionists and today the costs of this false regime, be they political or economic costs, are on Europe’s shoulders.”[74]

Ronald S. Lauder, president of the World Jewish Congress, complained to the United Nations and the Italian government about Ahmadinejad’s presence at the conference, stating that “It is deplorable that a leader like him, who is failing both his own people and the international community, is allowed to hijack the agenda of this important FAO conference.”

Statement on Israel and Zionism during 2008 UN General Assembly

In an address to the United Nations General Assembly on September 23, 2008, Ahmadinejad stated that Zionists are criminals and murderers, are “acquisitive” and “deceitful,” and dominate global finance despite their “minuscule” number. He further stated that “It is deeply disastrous to witness that some presidential nominees have to visit these people [Zionists], take part in their gatherings and swear their allegiance and commitment to their interests in order to win financial or media support. These nations are spending their dignity and resources on the crimes and threats of the Zionist network against their will.”Ahmadinejad stated the “Zionist regime” was on the path to collapse and that the “underhanded actions of the Zionists” as among the causes of the recent unrest in the former Soviet republic of Georgia. In a subsequent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Ahmadinejad stated that “The [Zionist] regime resembles an airplane that has lost its engine and is kind of going down. And no one can help it,” he said. “This will benefit everyone.”[75][76]

Statement that “Smaller Israel” is dead

In a speech broadcast on IRINN, the Iranian News Channel, on September 18 and 23, 2008, Ahmadinejad stated, in regard to the acceptance by Israeli leaders that the idea of Greater Israel is dead, that:

I would like to declare that the idea of “smaller Israel” is also dead. The very notion of Israel is dead, but they are lagging behind the times. Just like the idea of Greater Israel died 30 years ago, and they did not realize this, and have continued to perpetrate crimes for 30 years… Today, I say to them: The idea of smaller Israel is dead.[77]

Other Statements on Israel

In a public address, which aired on the Iranian News Channel IRINN TV on June 2, 2008, Ahmadinejad stated:

The Zionist regime has lost its raison d’être. Today, the Palestinians identify with your name [Khomeini], your memory, and in your path. They are walking in your illuminated path and the Zionist regime has reached a total dead end. Thanks to God, your wish will soon be realized, and this germ of corruption will be wiped off.[78]

Statement that Zionsts have taken control of the Power centers of the world

In a speech broadcast on IRINN, the Iranian News Channel, on September 18 and 23, 2008, Ahmadinejad stated:

The Zionists are crooks. A small handful of Zionists, with a very intricate organization, have taken over the power centers of the world. According to our estimates, the main cadre of the Zionists consists of 2,000 individuals at most, and they have another 8,000 activists. In addition, they have several informants, who spy and provide them with intelligence information. But because of their control of power centers in the U.S. and Europe, and their control of the financial centers and the news and propaganda agencies, they spread propaganda as if they were the entire world, as if all the peoples supported them, and as if they were the majority ruling the world.[77]

At a Holocaust conference at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran on January 27, 2009, Ahmadinejad stated (according to a transcript was published by the official Iranian news agency IRNA and translated by MEMRI), that

“Today the Zionists dominate many of the world’s centers of power, wealth, and media. Unfortunately, they have ensnared many politicians and parties, and they are plundering the wealth and assets of nations in this way, depriving peoples of their freedoms and destroying their cultures and human values by spreading their nexus of corruption.”[79]

Statement on Holocaust Remembrance Day

At a Holocaust conference at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran on January 27, 2009, Ahmadinejad stated (according to a transcript was published by the official Iranian news agency IRNA and translated by MEMRI), that

“The illegitimate Zionist regime is an outcome of the Holocaust… a political and power-seeking network claimed to be the advocate for one group of the victims, and sought reparations for their blood. [This network] ruled that the survivors of this particular group of victims must receive compensation – and part of this compensation was to establish the Zionist regime in the land of Palestine. On this pretext, they attacked Palestine and, after massacring the [indigenous] people and driving them from their homes, they occupied their homeland and created the Zionist regime – in order to ensure that no regional power would emerge in the Islamic lands except for the West, [because] Islamic civilization and culture have the dynamic potential to threaten their interests, which were based on oppression and thirst for power. These principles and philosophy comprise the Zionist regime.[79]

Statement on the attacks of September 11, 2001 and the Holocaust: “They sealed it off”

In an interview with Iranian news channel IRINN on January 28, 2009, Ahmadinejad stated:

“An incident known as 9/11 occurred. It is not yet clear who carried it out, who collaborated with them, and who paved the way for them. The event took place, and – like in the case of the Holocaust – they sealed it off, refusing to allow objective research groups to find out the truth. They invaded Iraq and Afghanistan, using 9/11 as a pretext.”[79]

Denying the Holocaust?

On 14 December 2005, in Zahedan in Iran, Ahmadinejad in a speech said he wanted to explain his recent remarks on a summit in Saudi Arabia – supposedly the 8 December meeting in Mecca. The 14 December speech then runs, in short outline, like this: ‘People in Palestine are getting killed every day by the new rulers of Palestine. As a consequence of the Holocaust, the Europeans took land from the Palestinians for a Jewish state. I don’t care whether the Holocaust took place or not, but it is illogical to give a piece of Palestine for compensation. Some people make an awful fuss about that Holocaust, make a myth of it. (…) Countries that themselves have nuclear, chemical and biological weapons should not raise an outcry when Iran wants access to peaceful nuclear technology.’[80][81][82]

Of this new speech, three reports exist, a long one from IRNA [80] and two small ones from BBC [81] and CNN.[82] IRNA is the Iranian state news agency. CNN declares to base its story on IRIB, another Iranian agency. The sentence in which ‘Holocaust’ and ‘myth’ are connected to each other is translated differently in these three versions. The translation given by the BBC has been labeled by the BBC itself as ‘Holocaust denial’. Israel, the U.S., the European Commission and several individual European countries have reacted shocked and indignant on some supposed statements from Ahmadinejad.[81][82] Israeli foreign ministry spokesman Mark Regev said, the Iranian regime holds a “perverse vision of the world”. Germany’s foreign minister called Ahmadinejad’s remarks “shocking and unacceptable”. The White House spokesman said, the comments underline the need to “keep Iran from developing nuclear weapons”. A European Commission spokeswoman called the comments “completely unacceptable”.

The head of Iran’s Jewish community, Haroun Yashayaei, sent a letter to Ahmadinejad in early 2006 that read, in part, “How is it possible to ignore all of the undeniable evidence existing for the exile and massacre of the Jews in Europe during World War Two? Challenging one of the most obvious and saddening events of 20th-century humanity has created astonishment among the people of the world and spread fear and anxiety among the small Jewish community of Iran.”[83]

In February 2006, Former President Mohammad Khatami clearly rejected Ahmadinejad’s remarks by calling the Holocaust a “historic fact”.[84]

In August 2006, the ‘Deutsche Welle’ citing AFP citing the German news agency Mehr, and ‘Mail & Guardian Online’ citing Mehr reported that Ahmadinejad had written a letter to German Chancellor Angela Merkel, in which he suggested, the victorious Allied powers in World War II may have invented the Holocaust to embarrass Germany.[85][86] “Is it not a reasonable possibility that some countries that had won the war made up this excuse to constantly embarrass the defeated people … to bar their progress,” Ahmadinejad reportedly wrote in the letter. Merkel indicated that she would not formally respond to the letter, saying it contained “totally unacceptable” criticism of Israel and “constantly put in question” the Jewish state’s right to exist.

In a September 2006 with NBC Nightly News Anchor Brian Williams, Ahmadinejad clarified his remarks, saying that when he called the Holocaust a myth he was merely trying to communicate that it was not just Jews that died, but millions of people and he wants to know why it is the Palestinian people that have to pay for the Nazis’ slaughter of the Jewish people.[87]

In the second World War, over 60 million people lost their lives. They were all human beings. Why is it that only a select group of those who were killed have become so prominent and important? Do you think that the 60 million who lost their lives were all at the result of warfare alone? There were two million that were part of the military at the time, perhaps altogether, 50 million civilians with no roles in the war — Christians, Muslims. They were all killed. The second and more important question that I raised was, if this event happened, and if it is a historical event, then we should allow everyone to research it and study it. The more research and studies are done, the clearer the issue gets. We still leave open to further studies absolute knowledge of science or math. Historical events are always subject to revisions, and reviews and studies. We’re still revising our thoughts about what happened over thousands of years ago. Why is it that researchers are jailed? Why is researching this issue prohibitited? Where as we can openly question God, the prophet, concepts such as freedom and democracy? And the third question that I raised in this regard: assuming that this happened, where did it happen? Did the Palestinian people have anything to do with it? Why should the Palestinians pay for it now? Five million displaced Palestinian people is what I’m talking about. Over 60 years of living under terror. Losing the lives of thousands of dear ones. And homes that are destroyed on a daily basis over people’s heads. You might argue that the Jews have the right to have a government. We’re not against that. But where? At a place where their people were — several people will vote for them, and where they can govern.

On December 11, 2006 the “International Conference to Review the Global Vision of the Holocaust” opened, to widespread condemnation.[88] The conference, called for by and held at the behest of Ahmadinejad,[89] was widely described as a “Holocaust denial conference” or a “meeting of Holocaust deniers”,[90] though Iran insisted it was not a Holocaust denial conference.[91]

At a Holocaust conference at Sharif University of Technology in Tehran on January 27, 2009, Ahmadinejad stated (according to a transcript was published by the official Iranian news agency IRNA and translated by MEMRI), that

For 60 years they allowed no one to question and cast doubt on the logic of the Holocaust and its very essence – because if the truth were to be exposed, nothing would remain of their logic of liberal democracy. It is the very advocates of liberal democracy who defend the Holocaust, who have sanctified it to the point where none may enter. Breaking the padlock of the Holocaust and reexamining it will be tantamount to cutting the vital arteries of the Zionist regime. It will destroy the philosophical foundation and raison d’être of this regime…I invite the dear researchers, intellectuals, young people and students, who are the trailblazers, to reexamine not only the Holocaust, but also its consequences and aftermath and inform others of their studies and research. Let us not forget that more than ever before, the Zionist network, which came up with the issue of the Holocaust, must be exposed, and be presented to the peoples as it really is.[79]

Within Iran, Ahmadinejad’s statements on the Holocaust have also been criticized by cleric and presidential hopeful Mahdi Karroubi.[92][93]

In early June 2009, Ahmadinejad, while describing Israel as “the most criminal regime in human history” went on to refer to the “great deception of the Holocaust” in a speech quoted by Iranian state broadcaster IRIB.[94]

[edit] Accusations of anti-semitism

Criticism of Ahmadinejad’s comments denying the Holocaust and calling for Israel to be “wiped off the map” has come from the U.S. Senate, which passed a unanimous resolution condemning his “harmful, destructive, and anti-semitic statements.” Identification of Ahmadinejad with anti-semitism has come from a variety of sources.[95][96][97]

The Iranian government has responded that “the Western media empire is trying to portray Iran as an anti-semitic country”[98] and alternate translations have been cited to contradict the accusations.[citation needed] Currently, 40,000 Jews live in Iran and have representation in the Iranian parliament in the form of a Jewish MP, Maurice Mohtamed. Their treatment is a matter of great debate, some stating that the Jews are treated better than other religious minorities in Iran.[99]

In addition Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has stated that “Jews are respected by everyone, by all human beings … some people think if they accuse me of being anti-Jew they can solve the problem. No, I am not anti-Jew … I respect them very much … We love everyone in the world — Jews, Christians, Muslims, non-Muslims, non-Jews, non-Christians”.[100]

Ahmadinejad’s September 2008 speech to the UN General Assembly, in which he dwelled on what he described as Zionist control of international finance, was denounced as “blatant anti-Semitism” by German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier.[101]

[edit] Defense of Ahmadinejad

Regarding Ahmadinejad’s statements on Israel and the Holocaust, Shiraz Dossa, a tenured professor at St. Francis Xavier University, in Nova Scotia, Canada, wrote in June 2007 that “Ahmadinejad has not denied the Holocaust or proposed Israel’s liquidation; he has never done so in any of his speeches on the subject (all delivered in Farsi/Persian). As an Iran specialist, I can attest that both accusations are false… What Ahmadinejad has questioned is the mythologizing, the sacralization, of the Holocaust and the “Zionist regime’s” continued killing of Palestinians and Muslims. He has even raised doubts about the scale of the Holocaust. His rhetoric has been excessive and provocative. And he does not really care what we in the West think about Iran or Muslims; he does not kowtow to western or Israeli diktat.”[22]

[edit] Reaction to Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon’s stroke

On January 4, 2006, Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon suffered a massive haemorrhagic stroke and was widely reported to be dead or near death. The next day President Ahmadinejad spoke to Shi’a clerics in the city of Qom. Speaking of Sharon he said:

Hopefully, the news that the criminal of Sabra and Shatila has joined his ancestors is final.[102]

The United States quickly condemned Ahmadinejad’s comment as “hateful and disgusting” and U.S. State Department spokesman Sean McCormack called Ahmadinejad’s remarks “part of a continuing stream of hateful invective that has come from this president.”

[edit] Reaction to 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict

On July 15 2006, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad compared the actions of Israel in launching an offensive against Lebanon to that of Nazi Germany. “Hitler sought pretexts to attack other nations,” Ahmadinejad was quoted as saying by the ISNA students news agency at the inauguration of a Tehran road tunnel. “The Zionist regime is seeking baseless pretexts to invade Islamic countries and right now it is justifying its attacks with groundless excuses,” he added.[103]

On Aug 3rd, 2006, in a speech during an emergency meeting of Muslim leaders, Ahmadinejad called for “the elimination of the Zionist regime”. While some media outlets immediately interpreted his words as another threat to “destroy Israel”,[104][105][106] such interpretations have again been challenged.[107] In the speech, Ahmadinejad said, “although the main solution is for the elimination of the Zionist regime, at this stage an immediate cease-fire must be implemented”. He stated that the Middle East would be better off “without the existence of the Zionist regime”. He called Israel an “illegitimate regime” with “no legal basis for its existence” and accused the United States of using Israel as a proxy to control the region and its oil resources; “The Zionist regime is used to reach this objective. The sole existence of this regime is for invasion and attack.”

[edit] July 2008 speech by Rahim Mashaei

Esfandyar Rahim Mashaei, Vice President and Head of Cultural Heritage Organization of Iran, proclaimed Iran a friend to the people in Israel in his speech at a tourism convention in Tehran. [108] This sentiment is similar to the “one state” solution [Israel should not be a state for the jewish people and should do annexation of the palestinian territories what will make israel an arab majority country]. He also added that Iran “wants no war with any country,” and insisted that Iran’s actions during its war with Iraq were purely defensive.

Hard-liners close to the government pounced on Mashaei’s remarks. But Ahmadinejad appeared to back up Mashaei, voicing sympathy for the Israeli people, even as he predicted Israel’s demise.” he said at a news conference

“The Iranian nation never recognized Israel and will never ever recognize it … But we feel pity for those who have been deceived or smuggled into Israel to be oppressed citizens in Israel.”

The issue prompted Iran’s top political and military figure, Supreme Leader Khamenei, to “to spell an end to any debates” about Iran’s position on the people of Israeli, during a Friday sermon in Tehran, saying

“It is incorrect, irrational, pointless and nonsense to say that we are friends of Israeli people … Who are Israelis?” … They are responsible for usurping houses, territory, farmlands and businesses. … A Muslim nation cannot remain indifferent vis-a-vis such people who are stooges at the service of the arch-foes of the Muslim world.”[109]

while such an attack would annihilate Israel, it would cost them “damages only“.

(Iran Press Service, 14 December, 2003)

The biggest issue in the world today is that of Iran building the nuclear bomb.

This is what one of the predecessors to Ahmadinejad said some years ago

TEHRAN 14 Dec. (IPS) One of Iran’s most influential ruling cleric called Friday on the Muslim states to use nuclear weapon against Israel, assuring them that while such an attack would annihilate Israel, it would cost them “damages only”.

“If a day comes when the world of Islam is duly equipped with the arms Israel has in possession, the strategy of colonialism would face a stalemate because application of an atomic bomb would not leave any thing in Israel but the same thing would just produce damages in the Muslim world”, Ayatollah Ali Akbar Hashemi-Rafsanjani told the crowd at the traditional Friday prayers in Tehran.

Analysts said not only Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani’s speech was the strongest against Israel, but also this is the first time that a prominent leader of the Islamic Republic openly suggests the use of nuclear weapon against the Jewish State.

“It seems that Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani is forgetting that due to the present intertwinement of Israel and Palestine, the destruction of the Jewish State would also means the mass killing of Palestinian population as well”, observed one Iranian commentator.

While Israel is believed to possess between 100 to 200 nuclear war heads, the Islamic Republic and Iraq are known to be working hard to produce their own atomic weapons with help from Russia and North Korea, Pakistan, also a Muslim state, has already a certain number of nuclear bomb.

In a lengthy speech to mark the so-called “International Qods (Jerusalem) Day” celebrated in Iran only, Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani, who, as the Chairman of the Assembly to Discern the Interests of the State, is the Islamic Republic’s number two man after Ayatollah Ali Khameneh’i, said since Israel was an emanation of Western colonialism therefore “in future it will be the interests of colonialism that will determine existence or non-existence of Israel”.

Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani made the unprecedented threat as, following new suicide operations inside Israel and against Israeli settlements by Palestinian extremists in PA-controlled zones, responded by Israel’s heaviest bombarding of Palestinian cities, police, communication and radio-television installations, killing and wounding more than 200 people on both sides, resulted in the halting of all contacts between Israel and the PA of Mr. Yaser Arafat.

He said since Israel is the product of Western colonialism, “the continued existence of Israel depends on interests of arrogance and colonialism and as long as the base is helpful for colonialism, it is going to keep it.

Hashemi-Rafsanjani advised Western states not to pin their hopes on Israel’s violence because it will be “very dangerous”.

“We are not willing to see security in the world is harmed”, he said, warning against the “eruption of the Third World War.

“War of the pious and martyrdom seeking forces against peaks of colonialism will be highly dangerous and might fan flames of the World War III”, the former Iranian president said, backing firmly suicide operations against Israel.

Quoted by the official news agency IRNA, Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani said weakening of Palestinian Jihad is “unlikely”, as the Palestinians have come to the conclusion that talks would be effective only “in light of struggle and self-sacrifice- the two key elements that gave way to beginning of the second Intifada”.
Iranian analysts and commentators outside Iran immediately reacted to Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani’s statement, expressing fear that it might trigger an international backlash against Iran itself, giving Israel, the United States and other Western and even Arab nations to further isolate Iran as a source of threat to regional security.
“Jews shall expect to be once again scattered and wandering around the globe the day when this appendix is extracted from the region and the Muslim world”, Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani warned, blaming on the United States and Britain the “creation of the fabricated entity” in the heart of Arab and Muslim world.
“The man who considers himself as the most able politician in the Islamic Republic utters such nonsense and empty threats at a very time that the hard line and extremist government of Israel under Mr. Ariel Sharon is looking for justification of its repressive policy against Palestinians”, said Mr. Ahmad Salamatian, a veteran political analyst based in Paris.

“At a time that the right wing Israeli government is claiming that the very existence of Israel and the Jews are threatened and uses this pretext as an instrument to advance its policy of repression in Palestine, such statements and ushering such dangerous menaces by one of Iran’s top officials is nothing but bringing water to Israel’s propaganda mill, providing it with more justifications explaining its present maximalist policy”, he told the Persian service of Radio France Internationale.

Though Mr. Salamatian is of the opinion that Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani’s words are part of both his own show and the ongoing internal tensions between conservatives and reformers, however, he also agrees with other Iranian analysts that his “untimely” menace could backfire, becoming a justification for threats against Iran, at a time that the United States and its allies are determined to continue the fight against international terrorism.

“One of Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani’s main characteristics in Iranian politics during the past twenty years is that in order to preserve his own position, he is ready to set fire to all the Caesareas for one handkerchief, including, in the present case, providing Israel with enough pretext to attack Iran”, he noted, adding: “for the time being and what is important for Mr. Sharon is that this kind of statements are open invitation for more violence, an encouragement to extremists on either side of the Israel-Palestine conflict”.

Observing that despite the fact that Israel is believed to have more than one hundred atomic warheads and the necessary technology to transport them to the very heart of Iran and elsewhere, but no Israeli official nor any newspaper have ever raised the slightest possibility of an atomic threat, “even in defence of their very existence”, Mr. Salamatian wondered the reasons behind Mr. Hashemi-Rafsanjani’s declaration, which he said should be taken seriously “considering the rank of the man who pronounced it”.

Later Ahmadinejad stated that Israel must be wiped off the face of the map. There were many who said that he was mistranslated etc. But he was not the first. This aim of destroying Israel and destroying all Jews lies deep within the psyche of Islam

9 September, 2009

On the anniversary of 9-11 I chose to refer to a potential far greater tragedy which is contained in Iran building a nuclear bomb to use against millions of Jews, another Holocaust.

This is what this site at the moment is all about.

As trotskyists I feel it is right to focus. This is what leon Trotsky did in the years and months leading up to Hitler taking state power in 1933, Trotsky advocating the use of the Red Army which he had built to attack the German Nazis.

I think this short comment by Robert Spencer is correct:

Iran might step up efforts to develop nukes

Iran works toward a nuke, while in Washington they wring their hands. “U.S. Says Iran Could Expedite Nuclear Bomb,” by David E. Sanger for the New York Times, September 9 (thanks to Dan):

WASHINGTON — American intelligence agencies have concluded in recent months that Iran has created enough nuclear fuel to make a rapid, if risky, sprint for a nuclear weapon. But new intelligence reports delivered to the White House say that the country has deliberately stopped short of the critical last steps to make a bomb.In the first public acknowledgment of the intelligence findings, the American ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency declared on Wednesday that Iran now had what he called a “possible breakout capacity” if it decided to enrich its stockpile of uranium, converting it to bomb-grade material.

The statement by the ambassador, Glyn Davies, was intended to put pressure on American allies to move toward far more severe sanctions against Iran this month, perhaps including a cutoff of gasoline to the country, if it failed to take up President Obama’s invitation for serious negotiations. But it could also complicate the administration’s efforts to persuade an increasingly impatient Israeli government to give diplomacy more time to work, and hold off from a military strike against Iran’s facilities..

Allow me to add this comment which appeared below above from Hugh Fitzgerald, whom I also admire

Eight years have passed since the attack that should have set many to school, to learn something about Islam. Distractions, false moves, messianic sentimentalism, ignorance that is so persistent it must often be willful and the result of fear of what might be found out and have to then be dealt with, the pieties of the age about “diversity” and “tolerance” that give rise to a diseased sympathy, procrastination, unwillingness to believe the evidence, fear of action, inertia, inability to admit to policy mistakes, especially if those mistakes have been colossal in their cost (Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, the entire effort to push Israel back which merely whets, not sates, appetites), and of course, the perennial favorite, whistling in the dark, whereby instead of Halford Mackinder, or John Quincy Adams, we look for inspiration to Elmo Tanner. And the result is, indeed, heartaches.

I remember in the days after 9-11 Adams of Sinn Fein was attacking America. He had to change position rapidly on 9-11 when the New York firemen with those so Irish names had their families becoming very angry with the likes of opportunists like Adams…FQ

Iran “closer to a dangerous

and destabilizing possible

breakout capacity”

Obama has taken a decision that he will allow Iran to possess nuclear Bombs. This is because he is a Jew hater essentially.

There are other reasons. Such as that the Us wants total control of the world. And it does this through an alliance with iran, with Islam, and with the Islam supporting Chavez an othe antisemites in South America.

But essentially because Obama deep in his psyche is a hater of Israel, and deeper down still is a hater of Jews.

Note, it is not just Obama. There are very many in the US ruling class who also hate Israel.

But essentially it is because world capitalism is in terminal decline and crisis. As the crisis grows only an alliance with extreme fascist forces will do for the US ruling capitalists in order to survive.

What happens in America when the next lot of mortgage holders, the ones who were not a bad bet 2 years ago, begin to hand in the keys to the banks.

Will the US spend even more and print more money to throw into the banks.

Those are the same conditions as 1929, the conditions of a turn to fascist forces.

And it is because of its alliance with Islamofascism that the US turns to an alliance with Iran in order to destroy israel.

If Israel is faced with an iranian fascist Nuclear bomb situation how many bright Jewish Israeli scientists etc would remain there? Not many if they are sensible.

With every day the truth of this becomes clearer

Iran is close

to producing its first

nuclear bomb – US diplomat

September 9, 2009, 4:53 PM (GMT+02:00)

The US chief envoy to the International Atomic Energy Agency, Glyn Davis, said Wednesday, Sept. 9 that ongoing enrichment activity is moving Iran “closer to a dangerous and destabilizing possible breakout capacity.” Davis spoke of “serious concerns” in Washington that Iran is now either very near or already has enough low-enriched uranium to produce one nuclear weapon. This could happen if Iran made a decision to further enrich the material to weapons grade.

Monday, IAEA chief Mohammed ElBaradei said his watchdog agency was locked in a stalemate with Iran and urged Tehran to “substantively re-engage” with the Vienna-based organization to prove there are no military dimensions to its nuclear program.

(From yesterdays DEBKAfile)

Let us go over the issues once more as regards the Iranian Fascists and Holocaust Deniers armed with a Nuclear Bomb

Earlier this month Debka analysed it like this

Barack Obama has been in the White House for nine months and Binyamin Netanyahu in the Israeli prime minister’s office six months. Both have spent precious time batting the numbers of settlement apartments to and fro instead of taking resolute steps to thwart Iran’s spectacular advances on the road to a nuclear weapon. DEBKAfile‘s military and intelligence sources note that Tehran has made good use of this time for the longest strides towards its objective than at any time since its program was surreptitiously launched.

The progress confirmed by our sources consists of four major steps:

1. Iran has succeeded in secretly combining uranium processing, airborne high-explosive tests and work on designing a missile cone to fit a nuclear warhead, according to Western intelligence updates.

2. The conflicting reports on the amount of uranium enriched and number of fast centrifuge machines in operation obscure the following hard facts: The Iranians have doubled the number of ever faster centrifuges that are working at their enrichment plants.

They are moreover completing tests on a more advanced homemade centrifuge, the IR4, which will halve the time taken for converting low-grade enrichment uranium into weapons-grade material.

3. By February 2010 – and some say sooner – Tehran will have stocked enough high-grade enriched uranium for two nuclear bombs.

4. Iran has also gone into home production of nuclear fuel rods for plutonium.

Barack Obama’ repeatedly held up his plan to engage Tehran in dialogue – first until the June 12 presidential election (hoping a more rational president would replace Mahmoud Ahmedinejad); then, until the popular unrest following the disputed poll died down (for fear of being accused of interfering); and finally on the assumption that the turmoil would divide and weaken the Islamic regime and make it easier to engage constructively.

The six world powers, US, Russia, China, France, the UK and Germany accordingly gave Iran until Sept. 15 to start talks.

It turned out that these delays, instead of weakening Iran’s rulers, hardened their position.

Reacting to the new intelligence presented to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Iran’s delegate Ali Asghar Soltanieh said Friday, Sept. 4: “The government of the United States has not handed over the original documents to the agency since it does not in fact have any authenticated documents and all it has are forged document”

An anonymous US official in Vienna said Soltanieh’s accusations were baseless and the IAEA itself “had accepted the material as credible.”

But by then, the Iranian delegate had come up with a new self-serving initiative: a proposal for the agency’s board of governors to ban member states from attacking the nuclear facilities of other nations.

Then on Saturday, Sept 5, Soltanieh, made it clear that Tehran was virtually scrapping the Western powers incentives offer which has been gathering dust since last year as the basis for talks and was about to put forward its own “comprehensive package on issues, including nuclear and economic cooperation as well as concerns about the proliferation of atomic weapons.”

1. The US wants to destroy Israel and a first step in this is to disarm Israel

2. And their strategy in doing this is now very clear.

The US is using Iran to demand of Israel that it give up its nuclear arms, which are a vital defence of the Jews against antisemitism an another Holocaust.

The US does not want to have Israel as an independent state any more. The US essentially wants to rule the world alone.

You will see more and more of this strategy in the US media (also the European Media) over coming weeks

It is a false strategy, and antisemitic strategy and it will be literally “exploded” by the Israeli state and people.

Becasue Israel whether it likes to or not HAS NO ALTERNATIVE but to strike against Iranian bomb in the very next weeks, at most months.

This will indeed change everything!

The Palestine state issue will be a minor point then!

The settlements will be a minor point also then!

or is it that these presenters do this automatically

Or is a mixture of the two.

1. an insult to the Iriah

2. An insult to English speakers

and 3 an insult to Jewish people everywhere

Israel must strike Iran with everything and Israel must protect tiself against this Iranian Nuclear Bomb.

We Trotskyists on 4international have a proud history and we stand behind Israel unconditionally.

Those who do not do so and are not on this issue totally exlicit are traitors to socialism

The time to act is now.

This means a total break from the forces of American Imperialism.

Reactionary Jewish leaders like Ted Belman of Israpundit must come out in the open and declare a break from US Imperialist politicians like Joseph Lieberman who backed the Islamofascist Izetbegovic in Bosnia.

We issue a challenge to Belman and his crony friend Jerry Gordon

State your position now precisely

1. What is the present position of Lieberman

2. What is your position towards Lieberman

Otherwise all of your crowing against Obama is empty rhetoric IS IT NOT???

As before we quote re the serious nature of the issue of the Iranian bomb from Debka

The second Israeli cabinet-level discussion in the last few days on the Iranian threat – nuclear and regional – took place Monday, Sept. 7, in the inner cabinet, on the heels of a recent security cabinet meeting which surveyed Israel military and homeland security preparations for a missile attack from four sources, Iran, Syria, the Lebanese Hizballah and the Palestinian Hamas in Gaza.

The Monday meeting was held behind closed doors but DEBKAfile‘s military sources report that speakers underscored the rapid tempo of the developing Iranian threat. Prime minister Binyamin Netanyahu went on to pay an extended visit to Mossad headquarters for talks with its chief Meir Dagan and other officers.

Monday, Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said he was willing to discuss “global challenges” with US president Barack Obama but repeated his government’s standing refusal to negotiate his country’s “inalienable nuclear rights.” This put the lid on the US president’s policy of dialogue with Tehran on its nuclear program and rendered the European engagement initiative pointless.

Monday, too, the head of the UN’s nuclear watchdog, Mohamed ElBaradei, said talks with the Islamic republic were at a “stalemate. He delivered a bleak account of Iran’s nuclear compliance to a board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna.

Yet tougher UN sanctions are a diminishing prospect in the light of Russian and Chinese objections.

Saturday, Sept. 5, DEBKAfile reported the growing concern in security circles over the failure of the US, Israel and other international parties to put the brakes on Iran’s fast-paced advance toward a nuclear weapon although Obama had been in office for nine months and Netanyahu sat down in the prime minister’s office all of six months ago. Tehran seized this inaction for the biggest leap forward since its hidden nuclear program was launched.

HR Rejects Iranian Press TV Request

No to cooperating with an Iranian propaganda tool.

HonestReporting UK received an email from Press TV. The Iranian news service, whose English language studios are based in London, is scheduling a show titled, “Western Media: Friend or Foe of Israel?”

The Press TV staffer described a show filmed in front of a studio audience with four panelists, hosted by fringe left-wing member of Britain’s Labour Party Jeremy Corbyn MP, a vocal critic of Israel. Would HonestReporting recommend anyone for the panel?

We’re flattered that Press TV seeks our advice. But we also know what any guest would be in for – a panel stacked against Israel and a hostile audience. We are also willing to wager on the likely outcome of such a “debate” – that the Western media is undeniably pro-Israel and under the nefarious control of “Zionists.”

Perhaps we may have previously encouraged a credible figure to appear on the show to put the other side of the argument. However, Press TV is the same news service that published Nicholas Kollerstrom’s outrageous piece of Holocaust denial, The Walls of Auschwitz: A Review of the Chemical Studies and frequently features Lady Michelle Renouf, a neo-Nazi and supporter of Holocaust denier David Irving. (See Renouf in her own words.)

With this in mind, HonestReporting Managing Editor Simon Plosker sent the following reply:

Even if I were to ignore the Iranian regime’s support for terrorism and genocidal intentions towards Israel, where I live, I’m afraid that I cannot, in good conscience, offer any advice or assistance to a TV station that knowingly promotes Holocaust denial as well as giving a platform to known neo-Nazis such as “Lady” Renouf.

We hope that no other individual or organization will confer any credibility on the Iranian regime’s propaganda tool by cooperating with it.
